I enjoy her poems :)
I keep on rereading her poems because they’re just that good!!Bought her others poetry books too because they’re soooo gonna make you feel all the feelings you can’t describe in words. Alicia Cook is really my favorite modern poet. I’m glad I accidentally found her in Barnes & Noble in Honolulu!! Her book’s artworks are very eye catching but her poems stole my heart. :)Buy them if you love and enjoy reading poems, they’re soooo worth it!

Astoundingly unique!
Alicia's book is astoundingly unique and is so much more than just poetry. One of the first things I noticed when I picked up Alicia’s book was the layout. It was designed exactly like a mix tape. The first 50 pages being called, “side A” while the rest were titled “side B.” Side A was the poems and side B was the remixes of her poems. To compliment the mix-tape vibe she also adds at the bottom of each page the song she was listening to when she wrote it. I thought the layout was so unlike anything I had seen, and right away I knew I was going to love her book before even reading the words on the pages. The second thing I found amazing about her book was that all of the profits made from the book were going directly to, Willow Tree Center in New Jersey, for those struggling with addiction. I later discovered that this was because she wanted to honor of her cousin who died 10 years ago of a heroine overdose.Highly recommend this book for anyone interested in poetry.

Absolutely loved this book
I loved how unique this book was. I have read a couple of modern poetry books but this may be one of my favorites to date. The “currently listening to” sections at the end of every poem made the poems all the more beautiful for me. As an avid music and book lover myself this was a perfect remix of stuff I’ve been feeling lately too (no pun intended). Yes, there were parts I didn’t fully understand because I may not have gone through the same things but every human experiences certain feelings in common so I love the book despite any incomprehensible moments for me.Blackout poetry is amazing as well so I loved how Alicia Cook incorporated this into her poems for side B. Her versions of the black out poems were so good, very apt to the poem and song themselves.Five stars and well worth the money for me!

Beautifully written
Beautifully written. I usually put tabs on the poems I like the most, and the whole book has tabs. This book will pit a smile on your face, make you tear up and just think.

Alicia is a force to be reckoned with!
Alicia, where do I even begin with this work of art? I don't care who you are, you can't read this book of poetry, and not feel something deeply to your core. Her words move me in a way that no other artist has been able to do, and the voice that she has is something to be admired, and looked up to. "Stuff I've been feeling lately" is relatable, humanistic, and moving. The little additions she made to the book, such as the songs she was currently listening to, is what sets her apart from other writers. I can honestly say she has been one of the most influential people I have ever come across, and long story short, you will not be disappointed if you purchase this book. I will recommend to everyone, and anyone. Alicia, you are amazing.Love, your friend, @in.my.own.words

I really like that she includes what she's listening to while writing
I really like that she includes what she's listening to while writing. I'm one of those people who can go from listening to 2Pac to Birdy though, so maybe that's why I can appreciate being able to write a piece of poetry while listening to "In Da Club". Seeing that actually made me laugh out loud. I can definitely see how her work has evolved from this book to the stuff she currently posts on Instagram. I didn't love all of the poems, but there are some must-reads in the collection.

Beautiful, heartbreaking and thought-provoking
Firstly, I adore the concept of this book. There's a great juxtaposition between the tracks of side A, which chronicle Alicia's growth and journey of self acceptance, and the haunting 'remixes' of side B. The contrast mirrors the negative voice that exists inside our heads, and is particularly vocal in times of grief and darkness. This book covers several emotional topics - addiction, relationships, and self worth, to name a few. It really does make you consider how you view and evaluate life and the relationships you have with yourself, along with the people around you. It's the perfect book for anybody struggling through something - I read this while going through a break-up and during a particularly bad health patch (due to my chronic disability) which can leave me feeling isolated. I know I'll be returning to this paperback each time I feel the need to reevaluate an aspect of my life.

Interesting poetry, but lacked depth for me
The concept of the collection was interesting but I don’t think it was well executed. Some of the poems from Side A were intriguing, but I couldn’t connect with the majority of them. Some felt like prose more than poetry, to me, some of the poems simply lacked depth. As the author is invested in music, I felt the lyrical quality of some of the poems. Music is poetry after all and vice versa. However, Side B (the erasure poetry) was difficult to read at points due to my dyslexia and eyesight issues. The concept for this section was pretty cool, but I struggled to read the poems and form the links.

Beautiful Poems
Lovely poetry by Cook, each poem has taken care in it's creation and are beautiful. With each being attached to a certain song when being written - worth the money as the poetry is stunning and would definitely purchase a sequel if it comes about!Only little downside (just my preference) are the pages are the 'floppy' sort, would've been more pleasing if it were made of the typical thicker, white paper as seen in Rupi Kaur's Milk and Honey. However definitely doesn't take away from the beauty of Cook's poetry.

20/10 recommend
Amazing amazing amazing, when I read poetry books I mark pages, highlight parts I like and annotate around the poems, I don't think there is one page that doesn't have anything marked, highlighted or annotated
