Super cute and funny. Definitely some crudeness, but both me and my 10 year old get a kick out of it.

Great book for my 9 y/o boy
Son loves the movie, and this book didn't disappoint. Excellent way to keep him engaged in reading, and he doesn't like to read! Tom Angleberger is one of our favorite authors for this reason. Keep them coming!

Great illustrations
Cute book. I'm not sure if I would consider it "middle school" reading. I got it as a surprise for my 6th grader and it was kind too simple for him. Great illustrations

They both enjoyed it.
I accidentally ordered two of these for my 5 year old, so the 11 year old got one. They both enjoyed it.

My 8 year old son really enjoyed this and is looking forward to the next book in the series. It's laid out so that a reader isn't faced with solid pages of text, which can make it appealing to a reluctant reader. My son tells me he found it funny and interesting. Groot doesn't say anything other than 'I am Groot' which can make it a little hard to understand. Raccoon eating toilets abound.....

Excellent...
My grandson who loves everything 'Guardians of the Galaxy' really enjoyed this illustrated novel involving the characters Rocket and Groot. The plot reminds me of a line from 'Hitchhikers Guide' about the 'shoe event horizon' when Frogstar Planet B's economy was destroyed by the increasing number of shoe shops, similar idea here, just substitute shopping malls for shoe shops. Really funny, I got it after my grandson finished it and laughed out loud at some of the antics. Written and illustrated by the same guy who did the 'Origami Yoda' series which I would also recommend. So good I bought him the sequel 'Keep on Trucking', which is just as funny.

Great.
I can't recommend this book more highly. IT can be so hard to find books to motivate boys and anything to encourage learning to read and sticking with it that isn't just dull. Even when the move on from kipper and co.This however is great, the characters are current, popular fun! There is nothing to criticize here, maybe aged 7 upwards although reading skills vary. I would love to see more movie tie in novels likw this especially if available in class or school sets a great untapped market....meanwhile my copy of this is still working its way around the 16 boys in the class I work in (year 4).

Marvel Rocket and Groot: Stranded on Planet Shopping Mall (Marvel Fiction)
'Marvel Rocket and Groot: Stranded on Planet Shopping Mall (Marvel Fiction)' is a children's story based on the characters from the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' films (a sequel to the first film is due out this summer), and is aimed at young boys (I don't think most girls would take to the story) who are independently reading. The story is narrated alternately by Rocket the raccoon, Groot the tree man (although his only utterance is 'I am Groot', happily Rocket translates this every time!), and Veronica, a talking sellotape dispenser. The (flimsy) premise of the tale is that Rocket and Groot have crash landed on a planet which is comprised totally of shops - having been saved from space piranhas by the tape-spooling actions of Veronica - but things rapidly take a scatological turn when the toilets on the planet want to eat Rocket.....It's certainly not Shakespeare, but the vocabulary in the book is not overly simple, and the humour appealed to our ten year old boy (toilets: always a winner....). The illustrations are simple line-drawings but they add to the story and he liked them. Good film tie-in.
