Beauty Pure and Simple: The Ayurvedic Approach to Beautiful Skin

Informative book
I got this book on Kindle. It contains a lot of information on how to take care of your skin according to its ayurveda type. Knowledge is power and simplicity is a virtue when you want to take good care of yourself inside and out. This is a well-written book. I feel wiser and smarter for having bought it.

Lacks practical info
I was looking forward to this book because of it's focus on both Ayurveda and skin care. I have recently been interested in both Ayurveda and natural skin care and despite feeling like I am somewhat new to both these areas, this book turned out to have very little new or practical information. It may be more of an 'intro' for someone who has absolutely no background in these areas, but overall, I was left feeling that this book lacked substance and practical pointers for incorporating an Ayurvedic skin care routine.

Ayurveda and a simple natural approach to beauty is obtainable for all.
This book is written fantastically. It is a beautiful, informative book that gives a gentle approach to explaining Ayurveda and how to integrate it into skin care and beauty for natural health and beauty. I learned a lot. A book I will re-read time and time again. Thank you!

Not what I was expecting.
The book is okay. However I was expecting more "homemade" beauty solution and a little less talk. Keep reading and you will find a few nuggets of good information.

I finally get it
I've read a few books on skin care and Ayurveda, which left me feeling more confused than anything. This book just kind of made it all click for me. The author did a very good job at explaining the 'Why' of things for me. Many of the suggestions I've heard of before but didn't put any importance on them till it was thoroughly explained in here, and I will definitely be putting into practice now. I also understand Ayurveda much better through this book, maybe because it was coming through the perspective of the skin, it just makes sense to me now. The writing was concise and easy to understand, I think this is good for a beginner or for someone looking for better clarity on the subject. I also liked that it took a little more modern approach to skin care, compared to other natural skin care books I've read. I think that this is the best book on skin care I've read, it cleared up a lot of confusion I had, and its suggestions are simple and sound effective. The thing I liked most was understanding the difference of having hydrated skin and oily skin.

one of the most helpful skin care books I've read
I learned so many new ways to nourish my skin from "Beauty Pure And Simple." The author suggests that as people age they should eat more moist and soft foods (avocados etc) to help maintain supple skin. She has specific dietary advice regarding age spots (avoid tomato) and dry skin. In addition she makes a distinction between dry skin vs. skin that lacks oil. There are many other useful tips that I dont have time to cover in this review. Definitely worth reading 2X ... especially if you're unfamiliar with Ayurvedic beauty philosophy as I was.

must read!
I am new to Ayurveda, but i have read a few books, this is by far the best so far. Kristin has a way of writing about ayurveda and skin care that it so simple to understand. i have finished this book feeling so inspired by this ancient indian way of living, and the connection we all should have with our bodies. I can now determine my own dosha, and i can clearly see the signs that my body has been trying to tell me for so many years about my own imbalances. With this knowledge i am hoping that now i will start to see changes in my overall health. If you are interested in skincare, if you have problems with acne, dryness, rashes, oil, dullness you should defiantly read this!

Nice read
I thought that this was a pretty simple and interesting little book. I know some ayurveda basics and a fair share about skincare so I was curious of seeing the two together. As planned it was very holistic and nature focused which is great. My cons would be that the book was a little smaller than I thought and that I felt the author referenced her own brand a little too much, but it wasn't overwhelming. This is not a big detailed book and it has no pictures but for the price it wasn't an issue for me.The pros would be that firstly, this is a potentially amazing book for beginners in skincare, and that secondly, the discussion on petroleum derived ingredients in skincare acts as a good reminder that most industrial skincare - and sometimes even so called natural skincare - can be filled with low quality and low cost product and that it's capital to learn to read labels well. I'll add that the part about the benefits of keeping your skin hydrated, oil cleansing, and steaming were really interesting to me even if i technically already know this stuff. It gave clear, simple and in depth explanations that are both really motivating and a push in the right direction. Get this book if you want to simplify your skincare routine (or start one), tailor it to your needs and learn how to treat your skin respectfully. I'd recommend it :)
