Ilina Singh's book on Indian women in science is an impressive peek into a little known corner of our history. She has very carefully selected women trailblazers who represent diverse fields of sciences. Her sketches of these great ladies are equally impressive.The content is interestingly composed and quite engaging. Harper Collins has done a wonderful job in creating an attractive book.These Indian women scientists were truly gutsy. I would recommend this book to everyone, young and old. It's going to make you proud of these remarkable daughters of india. We need our youth to know such phenomenal personalities be inspired by their life stories.

The Gutsy girls by Ilina Singh, such a brilliant book by a teen. Beautifully illustrated, wonderful poetry and very informative, it's a book all kids should own in their personal library. This book celebrates the Indian women from STEM that few of us know about. . It's a wonderful gifting option for kids of all age groups.

I bought this book for a friend's daughter in 9th class. The author is a young person, as is described still in school,and as such captures the stories of achievers in science from her young perspective. This is very unique in Indian eco system as there are few examples tat afford a perspective similar to the young reader! And this is all before you get into the inspirational stories. The author has her unique style which is rather direct and employees a modern language. I especially liked the activity and would you like to be section after each chapter that tells young people about each of these fascinating professions. Besides a great read, the stories of the women are as much as inspiration as is the effort by this young author!

Loved the portraits and the personalized treatment of each scientist's story. I read the book in one shot as it was intriguing that these women scientists managed to educate themselves in a century not exactly remembered for educating women but also pursued research in their fields with passion and commitment. Inspiring read for all ages/ gender.

This is a creative set of 11 biographies that come with a poem, information, related articles and suggestions for activities. Great for any classroom!

I wish this book was written when I was in school and my career path would have been different. Very inspiring and interesting. I love the author’s choice of the subject and her in depth knowledge of the same. She has made the book interactive even including activities for each section. She has made lovely portraits also of all the scientists. But what takes the cake is the description of each ones lives in a very interesting way. Keep it up Ilina Singh!

Tells a lot about women scientists

Very well presented. Provides a nice introduction to the field and scientists with a creative activity at the end of each chapter. Great sketches of the scientists as well.
