Certainly not for everyone
I’m going to try to explain how this thing works in an attempt to save others wasting their time. Other reviewers have tried to do so, but it wasn’t until I bought this and found it was useless for me, that I understood what they were saying.Firstly, the lump you see on the top of the mount is actually “battery pack” shaped and simulates a battery in order to provide power to the camera. So, if you have a “Ring Indoor” camera, forget it. The Ring indoor camera is mains only and has no ability to accept a battery and by implication, this mount.Secondly, if you have a “Ring Stick up” cam, it must have a mains plug, because none is supplied with this mount. So, if you bought a “Ring Stick up Battery” cam, forget it, or be prepared to invest in a suitable mains connector. Now, I can’t comment on the quality or performance of this item, because I was never able to install it for the reasons given above. At least the always excellent “Amazon return” service salvaged the situation.

Read before you buy.
What you are buying is a motorised pan/tilt base for the Ring stick up camera !It comes with a wall plate that the motorised base twist locks into, there are 2 screws provided which screw from underside. The whole motorised unit /base slots in to where the battery pack would goes.Thats why you CAN NOT use it in battery mode !It will only work if you were using it as mains powered cord. The wall plate is angled, and give a NON linear pan from left to right / right to left , This is not that great to 90% of customers. You will have to adjust the tilt up/down when you get to the edges of the view. The main use for this is for that one time adjustment, and odd adjustment once in a while. There is NO automatic functions in the app to set is at X and have it move to Y etcYour simple RIng stick up camera is not going to be them expensive PTZ camera !

Works ok but could be better
I fitted it to an existing plug in cam. Fitting is fairly straightforward. The operation is clunky. When i click on rotate the bottom half of the image is obscured by a full width white banner containing the up / down / pan arrows not much use when i am trying to see what is at the bottom of the image if i click the (just about visible expand icon) the rotate is then 4 arrows at each edge of the screen (why that isn’t the default i have no idea). The problem is that i can’t see how i can get that setting as a default, i have to open the camera expand the image then press rotate before i can pan and tilt the image. The other issue is that i can’t zoom whilst in the rotate mode i have to exit rotate and then zoom. Again just unnecessary inputs. In the event of needing to track down some movement away from the home position it isn’t particularly quick. As i said in the heading it works but could be better. I can only hope Ring put some thought into how their customers use their products. I need to be able to tailor the app to suit my requirements sadly that doesn’t appeaar possible currently. Edit: when i use Rapid Ring it does exactly what i want it goes straight to full view with the arrows where they should be. But Ring think in their wisdom that the main app works the same, WELL IT DOESN’T. FGS Ring, give your customers what they want. Not what you think they want reinstate support for Rapid Ring.

The objective of it is great but doesn't work without cable in this day & age it is rediculous! When it doesnt come with it.It's like buying a bike with no wheels

Would probably be great has the missing bracket been included.
Arrived what i expected as a complete pan & tilt device one problem the wall fixing price was missing but nothing to say was included or not as nothing in packaging nothing in the way of instructions. Website shows it but again doesn't say including or not.Contacted Ring Customer Service Agent named Ahmed, wasnt much use to be honest could easily had ring send correct item needed but didn't do arranging an exchange

Outstanding
This device added to the outdoor cam, makes it a even more powerful piece of home security kit! Probably one of the best add ons to an existing device that I’ve ever come across in the tech game… period.

Only useful for a month - then high subscription fees
The product does work... sort of. I put it on a lintel outside an upstairs window. It detected some - not all - motion and recorded some video. I had a neighbour who often managed to drive their car into their drive, undetected by the camera. But ... the motion sensor function is disabled after a month unless you pay an annual fee of £35. If you have more than one unit, the fee jumps to £80.So after a month the camera is only useful for "live" viewing. If you got the battery operated version, that will quickly drain it.Battery life is very good! There is one other subtle problem, although not with the unit: do you actually want to know all that goes on? Or will it make you even more paranoid or intruded upon?!
