Outstanding cane!
I'm 83, stroke survivor, living alone. I have multiple devices for getting around, (scooters, rollators, walkers, canes, etc.) But lately, certain things I do, where a quad-cane works best, have become a little scary. I'm wobbly, but a walker is a pain to get through doors with a closing spring thing. A large base quad-cane has really been the answer to my need. This Hugo cane is extremely well made. Some reviewers have said the bottom was loose, or something. Mine snugs up very easily & it's NOT wobbly. The strap probably would be dangerous to use as a wrist strap, but can be handy to slip through a purse strap or something, then loop it over the top of the handle. Mine had a 2nd Hugo label that covered up the adjusting holes, but I found it was just shrink-wrap, holding a document. I cut it & peeled it off to expose the adjustment button holes. I like the grip shape a lot compared to the round, hard foam ones on my other quad canes. Just so you know, this cane is NOT light. You don't want to go strolling like Dapper Dan. It'll get your wrist pretty quick. But I needed some stability for certain things. What works best is to swing it ahead, then walk up to it, then keep repeating this. I keep thinking of the Mary Poppins film where Dick Van Dyke is doing the "Punting on the Thames" thing. It's like having a movable grab rail almost. The "K" pattern of the base is the way to go, it gives stability but doesn't get in the way of your feet. the base can be swung for either the right or left side. (Mine came set up for the right side) All 4 tubular "legs" have good weld beads holding them to the base plate. I can't imagine how anyone could ever break or bend this cane.

Very sturdy and provides good support
I bought this for my father. He is 84 years old and fairly active with the exception of an arthritic hip. I am an RN and work in geriatrics; therefore, I am always thinking of safety and fall prevention. This quad cane is very sturdy and provides a wide base of support, My father has a roller walker he occasionally uses indoors; however, this cane provides the support my father needs to be active outdoors on uneven ground. My father says the handle is comfortable and he feels like he has a secure grip. The handle can be adjusted for right or left hand use. If you look closely at the base, it is a K shape rather than an X shape as with most quad canes. The flatter side is used toward the inside so when walking, the foot does not hit the support legs. The non-slip covers on the feet provide good traction on hardwood floors as well as steps and grass. The height can also be adjusted, allowing the user to walk more upright and reducing tension on the lower back. Features my father really likes are that it will stay upright when he has to reach for something or when not in use. He also says the curved handle reduces the strain on his shoulder. This is a plus verses the old wooden stick cane he was using. I have ordered a second one, my father now requires the support on both sides when walking outside. I am happy to have found this quad cane for him as it enables him to still get out and enjoy the outside for short walks and odd jobs around our farm.

Great! Highly recommended. Heavy for some.
Perfect for me and VERY stable. I have been looking for a heavier cane and found it. I am about 6' and weigh about 175lbs. This is not for a weak person or little fragile old woman as it is my heaviest cane. Most advertise as lightweight. No foot entanglement with this. It is used indoors fine and easy to walk with. I have a chronic mobility condition and this is great. It just doesn't have a light so I added a bike light, less expensive than if it is called a cane light. I always go up and down stairs holding 4 legged canes sideways and you should, as well. This is very nice and recommended for those that want some weight. Stands perfectly, will not fall over. This is my favorite of all of my 10 canes. I do not expect to get any better, in fact i will get worse. I will keep you posted on what works best for me

STURDY, HEAVY, A REAL BOON TO GOOD BALANCE...BUT WITH A LEARNING CURVE
There is a lot to like about this quad cane--and some things that require getting used to. It is very sturdy--much sturdier than another slightly cheaper cane I bought that was so wobbly I considered it unsafe. But it's heavy, probably too heavy for a small person or anyone with significant upper body weakness. And for anyone like me who has relied on a single-tip cane for some time, there is a definite learning curve. At first, I tried to simply move the cane and plant all four feet before I took a step. That left me feeling unbalanced and it's a very slow process. With a little trial and error, I discovered that by moving it forward, planting the back two feet and rocking forward onto all four as I moved (sort of a rolling gait), it was more natural and gave me a much steadier feeling than my old cane. The approach that worked for me may not work for others with different needs, though. Because of the size of the foot, it's definitely awkward in tight places, too. PROS: --Solid, not wobbly at all --The locking mechanism is superb --The handle is both comfortable and strong --Adjusting for using in the right or left hand is easy --It stands up on its own, which is a big deal if you've been dealing with dropping your cane or having it fall over --With practice, it can be an excellent alternative to a walker when going a short distance or if you're in a crowded environment CONS: --But make no mistake...this will NOT replace a walker if you need one for balance or support to go any distance --It's heavy --You really do have to experiment with how to walk with it (and that will be different for each person, I suspect) --The weight and foot size make it awkward to get into a car --The wrist strap appears to be pointless and possibly even dangerous if you were wearing it and lost your balance --As others noted, the logo and text are a bit obtrusive (but since mine is black, I figure a quick spray of black enamel or, worst case scenario, 10 inches of electrician's tape will take care of that. Most likely, I'll just get used to it.) I don't love it yet, but I already like it a lot. We'll see how it does over time.

Love it but it was missing a rubber tip.
I really like this cane. It is very sturdy and I feel safe using it. For whatever reason there were only three rubber tips on my cane. One was missing. I read this in several other reviews so I went ahead and ordered extra tips. I was hoping mine would have all four tips but no such luck. But I also ordered extra tips in case some of them wore out over time. It's a shame that people in the production line at the factories cannot count. Every quad cane should have four tips. What is so hard about that. Frustrating! So glad I was smart enough to go ahead and order extra tips.

Well Worth Your Consideration!
This quad cane’s base size, weight and design enables me to walk around with an improved sense of stability as I’m recovering from quad tear surgery in my left knee, which has been complicated by reduced mobility in my left foot caused by a herniated disk in my lower back. It took a little practice for me to “find your gait” at first but once I did I found the cane to be easy enough to walk with on both indoor surfaces (such as carpeting, hardwood flooring, ceramic tiles), and outdoor surfaces (such as pavers and concrete sidewalks). Further, I like the quick and easy ability to adjust the height of this Hugo cane, it’s comforatble hand grip, it’s competitive price and it’s ability to stand erect on its own when “off duty.” All in all, the Hugo Mobility Adjustable Quad Cane is well worth your consideration should you have a need for a cane.

The ultimate in comfort AND stability!
This cane has it all! It has an ergonomic cushioned grip that actually fits well in my hand (which is neither small nor big). The loop is detachable for those who do not want one on the cane, but I often have problems grabbing my cane (and watching it fall to the ground), so I appreciate this feature too. The base is large and all four feet plant evenly on the ground. Plus, the straighter side (the side the goes toward you) does not get tangled in my feet the way other quad canes have. The outer feet don't get caught in objects either, despite the large base. It is light weight, despite its size, so it is easy to get in and out of my minivan. The cane has many height adjustments, so it will work for somebody petite or rather tall. I am 5'8" and there are still several height notches left to go up on. Plus, it holds up to 300 lbs. I am not that big, but it is a comfort to know that my larger husband won't break it if he leans against it. I have ordered just about every other version of quad cane available on Amazon and returned every one of them- except this one. I love this one and I highly recommend it for anybody considering a cane!

Sturdy, large base (similar to silver drug store/medical devise stores), hard foam handle and priced right.
Nice quad cane for a woman. Little heavier (noticed, but not an issue) than the "sterile" silver ones. Love the colors to choose from, but would really like to see a dark blue one. The "Rose" color reminds me of an older woman's color, but at least it's not silver. Footprint of this large base, is nearly identical to the one that is offered in most drug/medical supply stores. The whole base is black, which won't show dirt as easily (very nice.) The handle is soft feeling, but believe that it will end up giving callouses to the hand. A simple gray or dyed to match foam handle, would have been perfect. Don't like the wrist loop, will probably end up taking it off. I do like the stable feel of using this quad cane & believe that it will hold up nicely. Don't weight 150, much less 300 lbs, so can't verify it does well for someone who is larger build or weight. Pros: a color (not sterile silver), stable, large dark base, inexpensive. Cons: the shade of color (looks like an older woman's color), handle grip (probable callouses), wrist loop (don't want it to get caught up in a fall and risk further hurt). Note to Hugo Mobility only: Please offer this in a dark blue color (to go with blue jeans), large base. Not all of your buyers are of older age. The handle, with duel color matching, looks like a grandmother's jump suit. One color, foam handle without the loop would be preferred by most, who have used a cane for some time. Callouses are not lady-like and HURT. Please make more youthful colors (not necessarily metallic ones, either.) Thanks for listening and I will be checking back periodically, because I want a blue one! Thank you.
