Small Vera Tote Bag, Cotton

I purchased this bag for my mom at Mother's Day. She loved the pattern, so I did not return her bag as I did mine. She is 94 and less particular about the quality. Whoever in the VB company who decided it would be a great idea to cheapen the fabric quality, and replace the quilted-through lining and pockets, should be fired. An embarrassing legacy for a formerly made-in-America, iconic company.

I picked this bag up in the vines floral pattern. The pattern itself is beautiful. It reminds me of an old pattern by VB called botanica. Unfortunately the pattern is the only thing I like. Maybe I got a dud, but the bag is not made well. The bottom of the bag will not flatten out. Perhaps it was stitched wrong together at the base, but it feels as if a cardboard piece is horribly bent inside the material and because of that the bag will not flatten out. The inside material is poorly stitched as well. There is a crease all the way around the top and when I put my stuff inside it causes the material to bunch up and not lay flat. Looks awful, like an inexperienced person made it. Lastly, the metal zipper on the front where the small pocket is will not close. I cannot get it to close completely. Not what I expected for $78. What a waste of money. I have purchased better quality cotton purses from Waverly at Walmart, and Bella Taylor for a fraction of the price.

The fabric is lovely as always. The new rayon type flimsy pockets are terrible. The lure of Vera Bradley was the interior that had great fabric pockets that didn't catch on the wallet or other things being placed inside the bag. The lack of a hard bottom piece is also frustrating. This purse doesn't sit up well because of it. The quality has certainly changed.

So to be honest, I was a little skeptical about buying a Vera Bradley purse on Amazon (I've never done that before, I have always ordered from the site or gotten them in stores), and after some of the reviews it made me nervous. I decided to go ahead and order a few Vera things from Amazon. I always wanted to order a small Vera tote, and I decided to bite the bullet and order one. I just received it in the mail today, and all I can say is it's GORGEOUS. I am in love with it. The pattern is vibrant, and I feel like it can be used year round because of the gray in the background despite the flowers all over. The size is perfect! I've owned multiple Vera bags in my life, and this looks/feels authentic. I haven't used it yet, so if anything happens I will update this review. However, I'm very happy I got this! The ONLY con is when you get it, the cardboard on the bottom on the bag gets bent just by the way they send it. So I currently have it sitting down with two Bath & Body Works candles in it to help flatten the bottom. Other than that, I'm so excited to use this!UPDATE 2/28/21: I looked at my bag yesterday, and found that the straps had an almost tear like feature on them, and some of the string was pulled in the front. Now, I did return it and I'm ordering another one. I'm trying it one more time. If it's the same, I of course will return it, and be on the look out for this bag from an online buyer site (Poshmark, Mercari, etc) or try to outlet near me to see if they have it. I love the size of the bag and the pattern too much to give up on it. Fingers crossed the next one (arriving tomorrow) is in better condition.UPDATE 3/1/21: I got the new Vera, and it's perfect! Nothing wrong with this one. No rips or tears on the straps. So happy! Came with tags as well.

What happened to the iconic Vera Bradley bags I have been purchasing for years? I had to go on the VB website to verify that what I received from Amazon was not a counterfeit. The quality just isn’t there: seams are sloppy, the zipper is clunky, the VB logo isn’t sewn down, the fabric isn’t nearly as nice a quality. I’m sad to say that this will be my last Vera Bradley bag.

Listen, I love this bag. I love the style, I love the pockets, I love the print, but it is NOT worth $80. It's not worth the $60 I paid for it on sale. It's worth maybe $30-$40. At $80, that's just a massive markup for the Vera Bradley name. It's a great bag...all the Vera bags have a great design and fit well on the shoulder and have wonderful pockets, but the cost has increased and the quality has decreased. Some companies strive to provide top notch products to everyone at the most affordable price they can, and then other companies just go for the cheapest quality they can get away with at the highest price point they can. I feel like Vera Bradley has gone the latter, and that's a shame. Shame on companies that do that.If you have a lot of money to blow go for it, you'll love the bag. If you don't have $60-$90 to blow and you're disappointed in the direction Vera has gone, you can find a perfectly fine similar quality bag elsewhere for much cheaper.

I always likes Vera Bradley bags . The bag itself is a nice one . The size is perfect . Not too small not too big . Holds a ton of things . The pockets are handy and the bag stays organized because of it . Love this bag and highly recommend it especially for moms. I ordered the used one from amazon warehouse . They mentioned it’s like new . So I ordered. But upon arrival I found the top zip handle was broken. And they kept it inside the pocket . The pocket also had some gum rolled in aluminum foil. Was disappointed as it seems some one used it and broken the zip handle and kept it in pocket and returned. The warehouse should have checked this and mentioned it has some defects on it . But they mentioned it’s like new . Though the customer care people gave half of the refund for this bag I still regret I should have bought the new one .The issue is with used warehouse item where the inspection must have failed . But I am happy with the quality and the usability of the bag. I would recommend this .

Love the pattern. Nice long handles that sit well on the shoulder. 6 large internal pockets and 2 outside pockets for phone or keys and a zippered one for valuables. Holds plenty for a day at work or out shopping. I use the small Vera to carry my MacBook, iPad, iPhone, lunch bag, makeup bag, sunglasses case and wallet and there's still plenty of room for a couple of file folders and office supplies.If you need a larger tote Vera Bradley have you covered with the VERA. It's about twice the size - perfect for travel, or teachers, or big shopping trips.

This tote is the perfect size to use as a daily purse. Large enough to carry all the necessities, but not too large. It has 6 inner pockets (which are big enough to hold my water bottle), and two outer pockets which I use for my phone and keys. The handle is comfortable, and it looks beautiful. I can't comment on the durability yet.Update: after a month a seam is already coming out. It won't be hard to stitch up but it's quite disappointing
