Like that Deutsher quality
Like that Deutsher quality. The first thing I did with it was flatten dozens of tree roots bulging above the surface, trying to destroy my riding mower.Kept its edge even while hacking into dirt.If you regularly use an axe, you also need an adze and a draw knife.

The handle seems to have nice shape but it doesn't strike me as very durable
I have yet to use it. I have yet to properly seat the metal to the handle. Seems a little odd to have so much of the handle protrude but haven't owned a adze before. The handle seems to have nice shape but it doesn't strike me as very durable.

Not good
The Ox-head adze I received was not usable at all as delivered. The eye was not properly finished - there was a pronounced ridge that kept the handle from seating. The head would bounce two or three inches up the handle at every blow, which is impossible to work with. I've worked hours on this one to correct the eye taper and fit the handle to the eye. The adze is now usable but nobody should have to go through that on a $100 tool. My impression with the steel is it's on the soft side but still hard enough to do a fair amount of work between sharpenings. Ox-head puts on a very blunt angle edge, divided about 20 percent on the bottom and 80 percent on the top. This forces a very steep chop angle, and the bite is not good either. I quickly fixed that with a file so I don't think of it as a defect. The handle is so-so. It has a nice shape but seems soft for hickory. But it has been taking a lot or work filing it to shape, so maybe its tough. The handle came completely unfinished and the surface is furry, like it came direct from the turning machine. Overall I'm disappointed in the tool, but I'm a fixer (a one percenter even) so in the end it will be made right.

Great tool for timber framing.
Awesome! It has great heft and will make cutting pockets in timbers so much easier. I've always wanted one but couldn't justify the cost then after spending hours chiseling out pocket after pocket on a huge timber frame job I figured why not. It's the nicest one I've seen in a long time. Well worth the extra money IMO. And I'm a notorious tight wad. And shipping was lightning fast! Came a day early.Edit: After using this for a couple days the handle broke off. I was using the adze on a very large timber mortise. I replaced the handle with a regular sledge hammer handle that I modified to fit the adze. I also used epoxy to set the handle. It actually works better than before. The head is great but the handle that comes with it was less than desirable but with the modification came out great. So take it as you will. I would still buy it though.

this is the best quality adze on the market
For those who understand how this tool is used and for what purposes, this is the best quality adze on the market.Highly recommended for experienced users only.

Poor workmanship
They sent me the curved adze when I ordered the flat adze, but besides that I agree with some other reviewers who found the handle did not remotely fit the head properly. The inside of the eye was <50% ground to shape and size, so it will never fit the handle well. And also, this is supposed to be a wood cutting tool, but arrived duller than a table knife, and with a convex (rounded) grind that will take a lot of grinding before it can be sharpened. For the price, I expected a lot better. This is worse workmanship than what you expect "from China".
