It has worked great in my Mac Pro 1,1, the first generation of Mac Pro.

no case, just the bare drive (OEM)

Would what work? There is no question that I can decipher. I'm clueless on "WCAT". For what it may be worth to you, my application of the drive is pretty straight forward. I needed a big boot drive, and this one seemed adequate. It is a bit slow when rousing the computer, but thereafter it performs as expected - fast, quiet, and lots of space for additional stuff. Assuming your system can access the drive's full capacity, it should meet any application you might have. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
