Algebra Essentials Practice Workbook with Answers: Linear & Quadratic Equations, Cross Multiplying, and Systems of Equations: Improve Your Math Fluency Series (Volume 12)

My kid is in 7th grade. This book really helps to drill basic algebra principles bit by bit and is easy to follow along and has made math go smoothly. What is with the schools not giving out textbooks anyways?! Other parents have reached out to me and asked, how is your kid keeping ahead of the confusion of learning algebra with remote learning? And I said, "This book. Here's the link. Buy it." Good feedback so far from other parents. The person who wrote it really knows his stuff, loves his stuff, and loves imparting knowledge so that you too can know the stuff! I feel like you can tell when you look at how someone organizes knowledge whether they know what it's like to learn it all over again. Like when your kid starts getting lost, they can go back a few pages and look again at what they've done and get back on track. It builds on itself instead of skipping. We do half a page every other day, but if you are behind, maybe half a page a day is good and help your kids get onto the level and then space it out as a supplemental learning tool. I wish I had this when I was learning it back in the day...

Great refresher book.

Got for my kids. I had to print several worksheets outside of this book to further explain basic algebra concepts. Many of the equations in this book are answered in fractions. The kids who have not had much experience with algebra are typically uncomfortable with fractions as answers. I taught my kids pre-algebra last year and have had them do several basic algebra lessons this year. This book provided many examples, but i feel it moves too quickly. I find myself printing several supplemental worksheets to be sure they master the concept of each section fully. There is also not enough room to work the problem out. If there was some more room and maybe a few tiny lines to write on underneath each example, then it would be more clear and simplified so kids new to these concepts could really see what they're doing and work it step by step.

Algebra was a difficult subject for child. So far we have worked through the first few pages and she has gone from "WTF is that?" to solving the equations in her head. Perfect.

I needed to brush up on several items in math to pass my fundamentals of engineering exam. This is just what I needed lots of practice problems. I bought several of his books and so far I am well pleased. I think when I get through these books. I will actually be able to pass the math section for engineering. 🏆 I tried another online program, but I got buried in so much information and other things. These are really easy and simple and I can pack around one book at a time. Also, I don’t have to print anything. Everything‘s here in the book versus some of the online stuff. You need to download a bunch of files and print them all off. Then put them in a binder. That program may work for other people, but I just got too much on my plate. This book is perfect for me. This book is fantastic. Great explanations and SOOOOOOOO many practice problems with answers hidden, but still easily accessible for checking your work. This is the second book of Chris’s that I’ve used to teach myself math and am looking forward to moving onto Algebra 2 with his books as well.

C'est parfait pour s'entraîner

Has a good level of difficulty providing a child some significant level of challenge, which once achieved, helps him stimulate the confidence in mathematics. My child who is still in primary school, has now started showing signs of confidence in maths and is able to solve some simple simultaneous equations using the substitution/elimination approach which this book teaches really well. I am so happy I got him this book and I believe his secondary maths studies will be fun. Addendum: Dec 2025 So I came back to add a few more words to my 8 year old review because I believe it is human (ubuntu) to share good things. This book did indeed lay down a solid foundation for my boy's maths. During his n'fives and highers, he went on to achieve grades that even surprised me.

Good book for practicing algebra variables formulas. For each chapter, it has brief introduction and has lot of different scenarios of questions to resolve. Both of my 12 yrs old and 10 yrs old kids love it.
