Q: is this stuff heavier than the regular fishing line?

Emerito, it's wire strand with translucent red plastic coating (the bleeding portion). Pound for pound it is fairly equivalent to a similar pound test monofilament (i.e. 90#=90=) but the stranded wire component makes it more difficult for bluefish to cut through. I usually use 80# mono for leader when chunking from the beach but I thought I'd try this. FYI I use 12" of wire or mono between hook and swivel. Easier to feel fish pick up bait and easier to cast. I am not sure as there is no test results.
