Works well!
I guide backpacking and mountaineering trips, go on fastpack adventures, and am an untrarunner. I have yet to see a pack this won't work well on, including my 5yo son's backpacking pack. Note that it is too skinny for a Nalgene, but for good reaaon - you wouldn't want that much bulk/weight on the front. Buy a bottle of water at the grocery store that fits, and reuse it. Also fits a 0.6L Hydrapack water filter soft flask, which is the best backpacking filter currently.

Here to buy my 5th
Love these little pockets! I included the image to show them on a variety of backpacks.Clockwise from top left, Gregory 35L, Osprey 25L, ZPacks 60L, Gregory 18L. Single images, ZPacks 60, Osprey 18, Gregory 35.I had no problem attaching to any of the backpacks, sometimes would use a loop of Paracord on an attachment point on the pack. The only modification I made to the pocket was to add a little shock cord on the bottom pocket, so I can cinch it shut (since my glasses case doesn't always fill it in enough to make the smaller pocket tight for my knife and chapstick).Size wise, I have a long torso, so my packs are all large mens except 'one size' for the 18L.

Love the convenient placement, doesn't add much weight.
I love the simple light weight design. Could be a little bigger in diameter for most standard reusable water bottles. A tall SmartWater bottle fits well.

Design could use a few tweaks
Over all this works OK, however the straps that go behind the shoulder strap to keep the bottle from bouncing are a solid piece. This works great if you can seperate you shoulder strap and slide them over. However my packs all have sewn rolled ends (a common feature so it does not slide all the way out) which means I either have to pick out the stiches, put the pouch on then reroll the end of that strap, or find another way. I found another way, which was to tie it down with short pieces of cordage, but that means it bounces more. This could have been avoided if the retention straps had either Velcro connection points or some kind of small buckle.

Must have for backpackers
Great fit for the Osprey Eja Bags! Their cell phone pocket is also a must!

Small
Thought this could hold a large water bottle but it doesnt. Only holds a very thin water bottle. Very disappointed.

Perfect for soft flasks
I kept my soft flasks and snacks in these and they were perfect. My friends all eventually bought them as well. I loved how light they were when empty.
