The backpack is nicely done but arrived with an unpleasant persistent smell which made it impossible for use. The smell wasn't the one from the product description - "earthy smell".

Purchased 3 months ago, so far pretty good. Looks beautiful and quite a lot of space insids. The only issue for me is that it is a little hard to tighten and close the pouch with the leather drawstring. I feel like the leather drawstring is getting more and more damaged, each time I use it, since it's basically leather rubbing against leather and metal. I may just substitute it in a few months. Otherwise it is great.

This bag did wonderfully during a two week trip across the world in hot and humid conditions. I can't speak to the water resistance of the bag in its natural state as I did give it a good conditioning with leather conditioner (both to soften the pretty stiff vegetable tanned goat leather and to add some waterproofing for a trip to typhoon country), but I was surprised at how well it has held up. Granted, I think the leather has performed far better than other elements of the bag (there's definitely been some frayed stitching on the inside lining and one of the interior pockets is verging on a hole), but given that there's not much internal compartmentalization of the bag anyway, that's all I was looking for. The bag holds a substantial amount while still fitting easily under my airline seat, and I appreciate the drawstring to pull the bag tight and fold down the top. My favorite part were the arm straps which, while not very adjustable and appearing a bit noodly, fit so well and ergonomically on my body that the weight felt like nothing. I would suggest that additional awl holes be added to the main leather piece as the top of the bag wasn't always tightly closed over the opening given the placement of the latch, and adjustment on the leather strip would allow it to close more securely. The number of pockets were useful, but given the spaciousness of the bag, I left those for small items I may want to grab quickly. With the retro backpacker style, which received several compliments from my friends, I think this was a great and affordable choice for those looking for a bag that can make it through a rougher trip.I will note as others have done that the vegetable tan can have some initial staining, as I found out when I took off my white shirt and it looked like I had rolled through a baseball diamond. I didn't have this issue after the first use so there may be a solution in wiping the bag down with some sort of wipe.

Very roomy ! Quality material,

Well built and classy looking. Although it was packed tightly and had the odour of a stable at first we are very glad that we bought it. It was too tightly packed so we stuffed it for a week while we were sunning it and airing it out. Then we unpacked the stuffing and have been airing it out in the sun and the wind for over another week already and most of the unpleasant odour is out of it. We think by weeks end we will be willing to travel with it. We plan to use it for walking picnics mainly. Very well stitched. The buckles are steel which look like brass (you can tell because they are magnetic), but for the price of this otherwise quality bag, that is totally fine. Very pleased. What a fantastic price and quality.
