These parts were a perfect fit.

The original brake arms featured steel rollers on a shoulder bolt. They lasted a long time (20 years for me). What is being shipped now is a new design with a plastic, non-rotating cylinder for a contact surface. This looks like it won't wear the brake engagement cam, but also it appears the "roller" won't last as long as the old design.One of mine was defective and had a loose rivet holding the plastic contact "roller". Seller did not respond to two requests via Amazon for warranty service.

One of the rollers was stuck when riveted to the brake arm. I put a deep socket on a solid surface, put the roller in the socket and made sure the socket is over the larger diameter nylon washer under the roller and smack the rivet bottom with a hammer. Not too hard. One wack freed it right up. One minute to fix and mowing w/a smile. Perfect operation. TY

This was for a 42" Craftsman lawn tractor, circa 1996. Prior to installing this new kit, I often couldn't disengage the blades. The problem was that the bracket had developed a 'notch' and that causes the cam roller (and into the bolt) on that side (discharge chute side) to actually be ground flat. I've attached a picture of the worn bolt/roller. I had spent multiple hours trying to find the replacement parts for the cam roller & mating shoulder bolt before I found out the bracket was badly worn as well. After determining this kit has the correct parts for my mower I ordered it and installed it this morning. Assembly was pretty easy - half the time was spent removing and re-installing the deck. My deck is a bit different than some, as it doesn't use a cable linkage to the engagement mechanism and it uses a different type of spring (not the type shown as "frequently bought together"). I found a video of a guy with the same deck the same problems (although he doesn't replace the faulty parts). Look up "CRAFTSMAN 42" MOWER REPAIR" by Gary Wright to view it on yt.As others have touched on, this is part uses a different cam roller design than my original. Rather than using a small shoulder bolt, roller, and locknut, this design has the roller riveted on and has what appears to be a nylon sleeve. The roller is a larger diameter too, so maybe that will help prevent the wear/damage.

2008 Craftsman LT 2000 mower blades would not disengage because the idler arm (155046) was worn. Replacing the idler arm and brake arms solved the issue. Probably was not necessary to replace the two brake arms but easier to do now than having to do later on. Be sure to keep track of where each nut, bolt, washer, pulley, etc., goes while disassembling. There are several helpful videos on YouTube showing how to do this job. No special tools are required other than deep socket ratchet wrench.

It is the same as an OEM parts.

I have an older model craftsman mower , the parts do not seem to be the same dimensions and sizes as the original parts. especially the drive belt.a much better assembly diagram would be of help perhaps.my mower is a Canadian model and the parts my be identified with wrong numbers.

Identical parts to replace my worn out parts. The bracket included was necessary. My Murray step thru 42" deck is now fixed.

Fitment was spot on.
