Kryptonite makes some of the best bike locks I’ve used and this one is no different. After 20 years, I decided to get back into mountain biking and purchased this lock to use while grabbing a snack at my local eateries during a ride. Being able to lock up my bike during or after a ride is key and this lock comes in handy because it’s small enough to carry with me while riding. The way it’s coiled from the factory keeps it from wondering all over the place, but also take some of the usable length away. However, it also makes it easy to pack away. The keys are proprietary to Kryptonite and are easy to use even when the lock has a bit of dust on/in it. I’ve been using this lock for a couple of months now and it’s never failed me. It’s a great deterrent to keep honest people honest.

This is a fine cable lock. Won't prevent truly determined thieves from cutting it off, but in my area, that's not much of a concern. But this will make it impossible for any punks from simply throwing bike it in a truck and driving off or stealing a front wheel. The key lock is a bit finicky, and you have to have the key in the right spot to unlock it, though it's not that difficult. My main problem with this, and I'm sure it's the same with all such cable locks, is that it remains tightly coiled, which makes it very difficult to try to stretch it through spokes, frame, around the anchor point, etc. Moves all over, and to get it through, you literally have to rotate it like a screw to get it through places, then pull pretty hard to try to stretch it until you're able to lock it. Again, this isn't unique to this cable lock, as they all have this problem. And it's pretty annoying, and time consuming. Can't just park, lock it up quickly, and walk off. You have to fiddle with it and devise a way to somehow get it around front tire, frame, and bike rack, etc. Lock and cable are coated, however if you bang the lock against frame it might damage paint. Also don't like that the coils pull so hard against spoke when trying to stretch it out. The coiling makes putting it away easy, but wish they'd devise some sort of sturdy cable lock where the cable is much more flexible.

Very nice lock. Thick cable, covered keyhole and the little light up key a is pretty nice feature (wish both keys had a light though). I like that to lock it you don’t need to insert the key like some locks I have used, only need the key to unlock. And I like that you can register your key for up to two free replacements.

Kryptonite is still the best for prized possession protection, though certainly not the cheapest. Recommend

This bike lock is well made and does exactly what it’s supposed to: deter casual theft. The build quality is solid, it feels durable in hand, and it’s easy to use and carry around. Perfect for quick stops or locking up in relatively safe areas. That said, it’s important to be realistic—this isn’t the kind of lock that’s going to stop a determined thief with heavy tools. If you’re parking in high-risk areas or overnight, you’ll want something thicker and more heavy-duty. As a lightweight, everyday solution though, it absolutely gets the job done.

Great product. I am using it to secure my snow blower outside under my back stoop. Very well made item and I do not see how anyone can steal my blower as the item is made of very strong materials. The lighted key is an added bonus feature. Definitely recommend.
