hilarious and terrifying
The authors keen eye captures setting’s & characters with accuracy and flair . The humorous and very true to life detailing keeps you chuckling despite the horror or the morbidness or the injustice being presented. Imbecilic rednecked ugliness leaps across the page yet one is left with a sense of sweetness and hope. At times it is long winded and repetitive, but the subject is of utmost importance and this book will bring the attention it needs.

Didn't enjoy at all
The only beads of past that felt all broken, out of place was by Percival. The anger was spewed on paper & I just didn't want to be wretched in that puke. I feel history teaches you better ways

The Wind Arises
One of the best works of faction I have read. I thank Jonathan Shaw for his review making my purchase of this extraordinary piece of writing based on true history though warping into a kind of magic realism of justified vengeance. Equal parts delicious and horrifying.

Oh wow
Words used to describe this book: uproarious; broad social satire; parody; gothic horror; surreal; police procedural; farce. Etc. All true. Very funny and witty at first but the sheer scale of historical lynchings soon gets to you and the underlying anger turns into grim satisfaction as the zombie dead roam the land extracting revenge. Half-witted white folks - including the former orange-faced President - are gloriously lampooned. Those of us not living in the US are grateful we don’t but of course there’s our own inglorious colonial history to be aware of here in Australia. The book does peter out at the end as the zombies take hold and we lose sight of the Black officers trying to solve the initial murders.

Crazy - politics, racism - everything
Very funny - and I don’t often laugh aloud when reading- macabre - and I like ordinary. Mystery and I like to know what is actually happening, absolutely no reason o can think of for the title? Utterly ridiculous and impossibleBut I actually liked it.

This is a book about lynching , but strangely, its not heavy handed. Its actually funny.
As above the subject of the text is confronting but it comes off like a Tarrantino movie, think "Jango Unchained". Having said that, its also quite a unique read. The caricarurish southerners are a bit broad, but they are the decedents of the 'folks' that did the lynching, so.... Finally, did I mention that its actually funny. If you like books that are worth talking about, its a must for the book club; but only if you dare.

Very good
Unique writing style, humour and story. I thoroughly enjoyed it although it faltered a bit toward the end in my opinion. Recommend regardless.
