Great fit and install, pressure checked perfectly and has initially performed as hoped, Day One. Will Update.
Replaced a Napa "lifetime" warraty POS that lasted 2.5 years and just under 30,000 miles on our 2002 Avalanche with now 169,000 miles. The cooling system otherwise was in perfect condition (previously flushed and the DEX coolant removed for this new Gates pump was perfect, though we did not reuse). And so, in my view the Napa part had no reason to fail so prematurely (fortunately caught near home and no overheat)...thus the switch to Gates based on the many favorable reviews here. The original GM OEM pump lasted 140,000 so my expectations were much higher than the 30,000 miles with the Napa (I am getting a new Napa pump from the shop that did the install (never again...do my own work for $0/hr and a better job even though these guys are "pro's") in exchange and for what that worth and will keep as a emergency field repair backup, but will see if I ever use). Comes with all high quality metal/silcone gaskets for both the pump itself and the thermostate "o"-ring (they also include a paper gasket which I did not use and opted for light film of Permatex "grey" water pump and thermo RTV on both sides of water pump housing gaskets as well as a dressing for the thermo house cover before inserting the "o"-ring for a metal to metal fit.

I normally like to go with an OEM part
Purchased this water pump for my wife's 2003 Chevy Suburban 1500 4WD Z71 with 5.3L Flex Fuel Motor. I normally like to go with an OEM part, but when reading the reviews for this product vs. the AC Delco part, they were nearly identical, however the Gates part was half the price. I have had good luck with Gates belts and hoses in the past and thought I would give this part a try. It appeared to be of high quality, was well made and an exact fit for the engine. It included the necessary metal/rubber gaskets and bolted on with no problems and no leaks. I will report back later if there are any issues with the part. I also replace the thermostat at the same time with the Gates 33910 thermostat/housing. It bolted on easily. If you are already in there doing the water pump and thermostat, you might as well replace the belts. I did both the serpentine and A/C belts and it was easy and convenient. Start to finish the whole project was about 4 hours, but it was my first time and I could probably shave an hour off that next time (though I hope I get another 170K in this water pump too). Good part at a good price.

Great replacement
Fit great on a 2004 Escalade ESV. Appears to be equivalent to OEM. Installed about two weeks ago and I haven’t had any issues. Gates has always been my go to for quality parts. Belts, pulleys and idle tensioners have never given me an issue either. Good stuff

TIP for Installation.. Great water pump otherwise! UPPER Radiator Tube fix for new water pumps!
Many reviews here have had an issue with the upper radiator hose metal tube leaking after installation and I have a TIP for future buyers/users of this water pump. After the water pump is installed, (Or before if wanted) buy some RED Loctite thread lock (sold in small tubes at any auto parts store & some hardware stores) and run a good bead of the loctite around the whole tube housing at the water pump housing and allow to dry overnight. Water pump must stay level and upright when this is done or the loctite will run off and not as good of a job. This may help the tube not leak but it is no guarantee of course. I learned this trick when working on an very old Wisconsin engine, ( VG4D) The steel oil fill tube had no way of being sealed to the metal block and I tried everything from silicone to super glue. I happened to be reading an old Wisc parts manual and right there is said to use Red Loctite to secure the tube.. No other service manual listed this advice, knowledge. I tried this and lo and behold the tube is now secure and doesn't move or wiggle, budge at all. It's really to bad Gates Water pumps didn't do the same thing with these water pumps, IMHO. I only added teh Loctite as an extra safety measure that hopefully adds strength to the tube people complain about. I hope this helps those who use this trick and it sure can't hurt! I have no idea if it would help, work after a water pump tube starts to leak! If someone wanted to attempt that they would need to clean the parts thoroughly or the loctite will not have a good surface to bond too. My water pump wasn't bad but had high mileage on it so I only changed to be safe as well as the thermostat & housing. Good luck folks.

Great price with a great fit on 2004 2500 HD RWD 6.0L.
Great price with a great warranty through Gates, OEM fit with easy install time along with the thermostat. Metal/rubber gasket provided, so silicone is not needed, but I put in on the metal surfaces any way. Make sure to change the clutch fan at the same time with the water pump or the pump may go out due to the clutch fan being off balance or old. Coolant flush is required during this replacement of parts and I always install a new radiator every 5 years or 50,000 miles to never overheat. Radiators only last so long now days and I only use distilled water with dex-cool coolant.

Works great.
The product was a perfect fit for 2005 chevy silverado 2500 6.0 gas motor. Went in as supposed to. Seems to be working great. Came with extra gaskits and bolts for a new water pump as well. I give it two thumbs up. My original water pump started leaking out the weep hole. That is normal for an original part if you go 170,000 miles on it. I am learning as I go. Update. Now December 2024 and all is going great still.

Amazing
Great product and an amazing price. I changed this water pump in a 2006 gmc sierra 1500 4.8. Easy to install. Took me probably 2 hours in the middle of night. No noise and no leakage driven probably 1k miles so far. Make sure you use some gasket sealer for extra gasket durability!!!

Not sure if you want to use the included bolts for the thermostat housing, mine broke. Luckily, it was still easy to remove. That aside, it's holding the pressure and working perfectly. Temperature has stayed below halfway ever since.

Fits my 2002 gmc sierra z71 with the 5.3L v8 even though amazon says it don’t it will, it’s for most of the 4.8,5.3&6.0 ls motors, replaced my worn out acdelco pump with this gates brand and I gotta say it’s wayyy better imo, fixed my leaking coolant issue, and sticking thermostat that was trying to overheat the engine, now running cool again with no leaks! They are reliable pumps, I’ve owned gates water pump on other model trucks I own and I wouldn’t go any other route, by far the best, and they last for years…

Amazon wrongly indicates that this will not fit a 2005 Silverado 1500 w/5.3L engine. Installed it on mine last week and it’s working great. Other sites showed this part as fitting my truck so gave it a try and it fits perfectly.

Replaced the old water pump on my 2007 Silverado 1500 classic with the 5.3 engine code T. Good quality pump. Easy swap. Sold the truck so can't comment on durability.
