This is a life-changing book. I believe it may actually be foundational and definitely deserves a periodic re-read.I read it to help me make up for my deficient catechesis. My knowledge of prayer could have been summed up as "talk to God like he is a friend. Sometimes you can use a formal prayer. Other times you can use your own words." This understanding is so minimal. God can speak to us through scripture, silence, tradition, and even non-traditional means. Jamilano shows you how in easy-to-understand examples.If you're going to be a Christian, prayer deserves more of a treatment than that. This book gives you that in a concise way. Jamilano refers to it as a "life-changing relationship." That it is.One of the simplest, yet most profound applications of her book is the encouragement to actually listen to what God tells you. It's a conversation, right? When you have a one-sided conversation with a human, that's no good. Why would it be that way with God?

I really enjoyed reading this book. It a great way for those seeking to hear God’s voice in the world to understand the different ways he speaks to us through scripture, silence, tradition, and nontraditional ways. It’s gives great practical tips on how to start a very deep and meaningful relationship with God. This book given examples that are really relatable to help you to either start or to deepen your relationship with God.

The main purpose of this book is to help Catholics (especially young adult Catholics) with their prayer life. From a Catholic perspective, the author goes over what prayer is, praying the rosary, along with practical advice on getting away from distractions. For example, many young people tend to be near their phone all too often and are too easily distracted. She goes over putting away whatever distractions will not aid you in prayer.Catholics who are seeking an easy to understand book on the Catholic prayer life will find it here.

I truly absolutely enjoyed this wonderful book!!! It gives perfect examples on how Carrell relates to us in our spiritual journey and development. Stories of others and how we can ALSO relate to them letting us know we are not struggling alone. I really enjoyed this book. It was easy to read and offered good practical suggestions to have a closer and personal relationship with God. Carrell definitely answers God's call to share her insights and bring others closer to God.

I will admit I am a slow reader. I am a few chapters in. Every chapter is a unfolding of Gods love for me. Carrell has been spiritually equipping people ever since I met her. She is a gifted speaker and the fruits of her love of God radiates to many souls. Spiritual Direction is very much needed for the world today. This book will inspire for the longing love of God and to hear His precious alluring voice. God Bless Carrell and her family.—Frank S.
