Mechanical Ventilation for the ICU Resident: A Concept Based Approach
Q**G
A book I wish I could have when I was an intern
This book provides us with the must-have knowledge for beginners with seventies pages(could be finished within 1-3 days ). It is well organized, the concepts are explained well with pain words, simplified figures, and illustrative cases. I also read the ventilator book by William Owens. These two are both great but have different focuses: the former covers the indication of intubation, ventilator parameters, common questions about ventilator including sedation, neuromuscular blockade, complications and physiology, all of these are commonly encountered questions during the round; while the latter cover the basics but also more detailed demonstration about the modes of the ventilator. So for beginners, I think it is a good idea to start with this book then the ventilator book, and if you have more time, the advanced ventilator book by William Owens. I sincerely wish I could have read this book when I was an intern but even now as a resident it is still a great resource to review before, during and after ICU rotation.
