Short and Precise
Short and precise book on the Viking history. A good overview of all the important events happened. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to get started with Viking's history.

Good quick read
I loved the conciseness and the simplicity. It would have been absolutely great if there were a few maps and clearer timelines included.

A good book in Norse Mythology to start off with.
With concise information on this topic, you definitely get a broader aspect in the study of mythologies. It is a must read although I highly recommend to go for detailed study if you find this fascinating.

Brief
Summary of the Viking age is an apt description. Truly an hourly read to brush up on the Viking era.

Skips around through the history but worth reading
As with other books in the series the subject matter is lightly touched upon as obviously this isn't full unabridged history just quick glimpses in time. it did exactly what I wanted and gave me the pertinent facts. I did find out quite a few little bits and pieces that I didn't know regarding the reasons for their invasions. Definitely worth reading if you want to know the bare bones but don't have the time to read a multiple book history.

Before you buy read
I looked forward to this book, but when I received it I was taken back by the cost of this book, not worth it, this should've be reviewed, I read this book within one hour and I am not a quick reader, the content to me did not explain the Vikings although I do know references to them can not be exact but please don't make money out of people with such a short (this is all I know) I will pass this on to my grandchildren but they learn more at school about the Viking than they will learn with this book.

Excellent introduction to Viking explorations and conquests
I'm not an expert of the period but fairly knowledgeable and yet I've learnt a few things. If you're looking for a book about Viking culture, religion, daily lives, this book is not for you, but if you're interested in Viking explorations and conquests this book is the perfect introduction. Despite being short it manages to cover all the important steps of Viking history. It'll well written. The only addition I would have appreciated is a suggested bibliography so that I could dig deeper on certain topics.

We're Vikings victims?
In an attempt to change the typical view of the Norsemen as marauding mariners bent only on pillage and destruction (although with no mention of the term "viking" being a verb, not a noun) the writer points to Charlemagne and Co as the catalyst. There may be some truth in this view but this doesn't get in the way of a decent overview of the three peoples making up the Viking sagas

Excellent
A great read, perfectly concise but with really interesting facts throughout. It is remarkable how extensive the Viking exploration and raiding was. I was particularly interested in the background reasoning as to why they launched their raiding into mainland Europe.
