Best saw I had ever bought when I picked it up
This leaves exceptionally fine, straight, consistent cuts. The blade has lost several teeth at this point, but it still is quite sharp. I have since moved over to a Ryoba, which gives me both the cross and rip cutting options I needed. Not as steady, but similarly fine and consistent. Highly recommended for joinery. Be gentle and feel your way through the cuts and this should last longer than it did for me when I was just starting.

Why no handle wrap
I'm giving it five stars even though I have one complaint. This was my first Japanese saw for dovetails. It worked perfect. And it is definitely easier to get accurate cuts with the Japanese saws over western saws. This saw works flawlessly. On to my one complaint and one I won't even take stars away for. I don't understand why all their other handles are wrapped in bamboo cord or why ever material it is. This one looks like they started it and were like nah changed my mind. So your left with a kind of rough unfinished handle. Just wrap it like the rest. But this does not hinder the performance at all

Excellent Product
Light weight, stable and sturdy saw for dovetails. Very sharp, easy to handle and accurate. I love this saw and recommend it. My only caveat to anyone buying it is that you may want to add a better grip. I am wrapping the bare beechwood handle on mine with some baseball bat grip tape, but this is my personal preference and not necessary to use this nearly flawless 9-1/2 inch saw.

Excellent Joinery Saw
I have the Suizan rip saw that I use for dovetails and other joinery. It works so well that I decided to get the cross cut saw. I have a full compliment of western saws and find myself using the Suizan saws most often. The crosscut like the rip tracks well with a fine kerf and leaves a smooth finish right off the saw. It's hard to imagine how a more expensive saw could be any better.

Not good as a fret saw. Otherwise a great saw
This saw comes up as a top search result when searching for a fret slotting saw. I bought one and cut some fret slots, but they end up being too narrow to accept the fret tang. This is unfortunate because this is a great saw. It is super sharp and cuts well, and the Japanese style help you cut straighter on the pull stroke. So even though the documentation says it is a .020” kerf, it is actually more like .010” and not suitable for fret slots.

Fast and precise cut
I bought this for something else, but today I needed to cut a branch from my mature lemon tree. It was an awkward position so I used this. And I was impressed. I cut a 3 inch diameter branch, 2 cuts from each side. It was ease, and fast. I did make rookie mistakes by *pushing* a few times, instead of pulling. The saw lost 3 teeth as a result. The low reviews are probably because using this saw in the wrong way. American saws = push Japanese saws = pull

I don’t normally right reviews but this saw? Stop wondering and buy it now!!
Okay so. When I bought this, so cheap... coming from japan.. I had low expectations, but the reviews convinced me to give it a try. Firstly, well made saw, like.. wow. It’s sturdy but slightly flexible for the cuts needed. You can cut slight curves with this saw if you use it careful. For the length and the thin blade? I haven’t had any trouble with any bends, nothing loose. I mean,, it’s super sharp. Cuts incredibly well. I’ve used it for wood mainly. It’ll cut Plastic decently too! But not really it’s purpose. I bought this mainly for fret work but I’ve come to use this for legit everything.

Buen producto
Este serrucho japonés hace unos cortes muy finos, además por la costilla que tiene no permite que el corte se desvíe. Se los recomiendo
