It is what the description says it is, but novices are leaving unfair reviews
The negative reviews are from people who practically admit that they just don't know how to use this kind of tester. I admit that instructions could be written to teach people more about electrical connections, e.g. what to expect when testing TS plugs in the tester's TRS sockets and how this kind of tester simply cannot tell you which end of the cable is bad. But I wouldn't expect to get a tutorial on electronics on a budget device. No tester like this exist that can tell you which end of the cable is bad, so I never expected that kind of feature on this device. Even one reviewer says it works as expected, but doesn't explain why he/she leaves less than five stars. Not fair! This tester works as well for me as any tester like it could be expected to. To test which end of a cable is bad would require a high-end tester that costs ten times as much, or more.

Poor product design
First off the instructions are awful vague. Second the operation is not intuitive, meaning after plugging in a cables ends on the automatic setting, you would see several lights blinking. Why would there be 3 alternating lights for a 2 conductor wire. Dont waste your money like i did. After going through all my myriad connecting cables i still have no idea which ones are good or bad.
