A beautiful and moving book. The couple's love shines clear out of the pages and I felt I knew Ficre as a friend after reading it. I sent a copy to a friend who had recently lost her husband and she wrote that it was a milestone for her. It is so much more than the story of one family's grief and loss; it is about the beauty of the love that is gone, the poignancy of mourning, and the inclusion of a personal loss within the collective losses of us all. Somehow this couple become all that is best and bravest in humanity.
