Strange cord layout
Works absolutely fine as a heater, the temperature controls are nice and clear, and it's keeping my tank at a good constant temperature, has a slim profile that's easy to fit behind decorations or plants, doesn't seem to get too hot in the water. My only issue with this heater is the cord seems oddly short for something that's 100% submersible. Try to have an outlet or power bar REAL close to your tank if you plan to hang this horizontally near the bottom or in any place other than having the connection coming out right near the surface of your water, as there's not much cord to work with. Additionally, if your outlet is behind any furniture, congrats, because you're gonna have to look behind it any time you want to check the temp controls, as they're only about a foot away from the plug.I realize this isn't an issue everyone will have, but I like to keep my outlets a couple feet away from my tank for safety during water changes, and even that seems to push it for this.Other than that, an excellent heater, I just wish it had a foot or so more cord on it by default.

It's form over function
To make sure a heater is safe to use, I test it before installing it into the tank. Typically, a well-engineered aquarium heater, when submerged, doesn't become overly hot; it gets warm to the touch, and thus poses no real harm to our precious aquatic pets. In fact, I used to have plecos that would latch onto the heater while it was on with no ill-effect.This heater, however, when I was testing it in an empty tank of water, wasn't just hot when I touched it; it was scalding. I pulled my hand away, instantly. There is no way a hapless little creature like a bristlenose pleco or an otocinclus or a nerite snail will come out ok if they press themselves on this heater while it was on.And I think the flaw is in what makes this heater so appealing: the design-- it's short and narrow--it's tiny. And because it's so tiny , all of the heat it produces is transferred through a very small area, where it becomes concentrated, like a large area of sunlight focused onto a small spot. This is a cool looking heater, no doubt, which is why I bought it, but it forfeits practical functionality for aesthetics; it's just poorly engineered. So do yourself a favor and avoid this one. Get yourself a big ugly heater by Eheim or Fluval because It's the big and ugly design that will properly dissipate heat and ultimately not injure your aquatic pets.. unless, of course, it randomly explodes or electrifies the water... which, in that case you should just bypass the heater altogether and start a cold water tank.

Hygger 100 watt 7 inch tank heater.
This 7 inch Hygger 100 watt heater is awesome. One of the smaller 100 watt heaters for a great price! Awesome quality and holds a steady temp for my 20 gallon long. Hygger doesn’t disappoint. Strong suction cups and takes up a-lot less space in my tank diameter and length wise. If your looking for a tank heater that has a smaller foot print, top notch quality, and won’t break the bank this is it. I was skeptical in purchasing this product because I’m used to the regular looking 100 watt heaters but I have other Hygger products and their top notch quality as well. I’m extremely happy with this product. And it’ll be on my top 3 tank heater option list when I start building my 40 gallon breeder. One down side; needs 2 to 3 more extra feet on the cord on the end where you plug it into the wall. “See the pictures that Hygger provides” Rather than have the heater thermostat dial sit under the tank I can put it next to it. Not a big deal; nothing a 4-ft extension cord can’t solve. 🐠🐟🐠🐟

Definately recommend! Durable heater
I put the Hygger 100 Watt inline quartz heater in my 40 gallon breader and it works fantastically! It took a little while to bring my tank temp up to 82 degrees, but then it kept the temp at a consistent 82 degrees, even in my cold basement. The glass surrounding the quartz sand is shatterproof and the box with the temperature control is well made. Overall, this heater is very well built and durable. With the heater not being covered, I put it in the corner of my tank behind a plant. But after the heater had been on for several hours, I put my hand in the water and touched it. It was warm (as it should be) but was not hot enough to burn me or a fish. I was happy with this because I do not have to worry about it hurting my fish, unlike some other heaters.Definately recommend this Hygger 100w if you're looking for a solid heater.

Not Accurate
I have this in a 10 gallon which should be easier to stay accurate, but it's always lower a few degrees and I'm trying to adjust it all the time. Otherwise it's a good quality heater, just don't expect to go without a thermometer.
