I was initially not impressed. I was ignorant about the PEARL model and assumed they were all the same. THEY ARE NOT. The pearl model is listed as not being as loud as the regular F40 and other models. The pearl produces a different and lower-pitched sound. It will work well in areas where multiple games and multiple whistles will be in use. My intended use is for directing traffic and football coaching. I am also a wind musician and enjoy making various sounds and pitches with the whistle. This Pearl is not the best for that. It makes one loud sound and makes it very well! The low pitch sound was heard well by drivers through their windows! I even frightened one driver who was not paying attention to the yellow man standing in the road LOL!The Fox40 lanyards are of course superior quality and the free Koala lanyard is nice but are not great.

I got the orange ones. My dad was a ref and he had a bunch of these Fox 40 whistles everywhere growing up, so I knew they were good ones! They have a thick chunk of plastic to attach to a keychain. The last cheap whistles I had snapped because they were attached with a stupid thin plastic cut out. So, that right there is a great thing for durability. They are also so freaking loud, which is the point of a safety whistle. I bought four to family members could have them on a reflective lanyard along with other safety items. I go with walks with my mom after dark, so these are great to have on us.

The plastic seemed fairly cheap and brittle with sharp edges. It will hopefully hold up because I need it to should an emergency arise. I think another thing I found disappointing is I could have bought a life vest that included the whistle. Oh well live and learn. I got the whistle based on reviews I'd read about not using whistles with beads inside which resulted in problems. These whistles are beadless and do have a ncie shrill effect.

Perfect cold weather whistle. No moving parts to freeze. The only slight problem I experienced was with the volume. It's a very loud whistle and there's no way to blow it softly. That typically wouldn't be a problem but I was training a puppy and this super loud whistle made the pup nervous. Again, great whistle that is very loud at a descent price.

These are very handy for anyone who spends a lot of time in the backcountry. I'm glad they send a 2-pack, so that I put one in my wife's backpack as well.

Flimsy and cheap, weak whistle.

I ordered this and it states that it is a 2 pack, however it only came with 1. I would have bought a single if I knew this was the case as you can get one for much cheaper. Overall the whistle itself is good quality.
