Landscape Drawing Step by Step (Dover Art Instruction) Paperback – January 27, 1998

I bought this as a Kindle edition, and liked it so much that I bought the book. The Kindle edition is good, but of course, the larger pages of the book are helpful. The first drawings are in graphite pencil, then chalk and finally charcoal.It really is a `step-by-step' instruction book. Each demo landscape is accompanied by an explanation of what the artist is doing at each stage, including the grade of pencil used, whether the tip or side is used, the type of stroke used, how to blend with a finger or `stub', etc, so that you really can `draw along' with the demo and produce a work of art.There is a short `intro' about values, linear and aerial perspective (with pics), and you can see how these are used in the demo landscapes.There is also an explanation of how to measure objects in the landscape using a pencil. However, and this is my only negative comment; it doesn't describe clearly how to use the `pencil measurement' to quickly transfer the object to the size of your page! I've found this skill to be a real stumbling block for beginning drawing students.I really recommend this book; it's great value.

I first checked the book out from the library and found it useful enough so I bought a copy to keep.

An oldie but goodie. Well-illustrated nd well- written, it has helpful tips for beginners and helpful reminders for the more proficient artist. It's a good "tool" to have in your collection. I purchased this for my grandchildren, but decided to keep it around awhile and retread it before sending it out to them.

The drawings are step wise progression which is helpful, but it doesn't really tell you how to duplicate them. It is probably a better resource for someone who already has some natural artistic abilities or has had some basic training.

This is a pretty cool book its not that big but it does break down to the steps of drawing landscapes , For the price its a great book to add to your collection

This is exactly the book I needed to enable me to make better drawings because it helps me with value studies.

It is truly a beginners book has some really good projects to move you along. I would recommend buying it , not kindleBetter to see in print

Good beginning drawing book. Easy to understand and useful. I think it takes more then just one book to get a good rounded perspective and this one works for that.
