Valkyria Chronicles 3: Complete Artworks Paperback – April 16, 2013

So let me start off by saying that I love this book. I love when developers will allow us to look at concept sketches and give their thoughts on the design process. This book is absolutely packed with great tidbits on that, and would really be an asset to anyone interested in character design, specifically with a military slant. The plus here is, that for whatever reason, this was translated into English when the game was not. So if you want to know about the story, there's a whole section that breaks it down chapter to chapter, which is fantastic for those of us who don't read Japanese (or don't know to seek out the fan translation of the game).Now, all this being said... I was disappointed in what the designers had to say about their creations. This doesn't really factor into my review of the book itself, hence me giving it five stars, but I really didn't need to know how the designers labored over the decision to give Riela big titties and how her design (jacket being too small for them) reflected that. While this is definitely a diverse cast (by some standards) it seems that a lack of awareness and lack of female members of the design team contributed to... A lot of questionable choices for the female cast.Now, if you don't care about that, fine. And if you just want a great art book with loads of information about a game that will likely never see an English release, this is absolutely a great buy. I'm going to treasure it, despite my disillusionment about the creators, and I do truly love the game. So take that as you will.

Now owning all 3 books, I have to say this book is laid out beautifully. And while I am not going to go into a full detailed review, there are a few things I would like to point out as to why I like this book.1. It includes the story pages/chapters. This was missing in the 2nd book and I believe added great value to the collection.2. More art and less in-game 3d renders. Example: Secondary characters are drawn out instead of a 3d game model like in the first book.3. It's in English. Sad reason to like the book, but it is even more sad that I don't know Japanese to play the game. I now collect Valkyria Chronicle books because I enjoy their art style. I wish the game would be ported over to NA.4. Attention to detail. The organization and layout of this book are great! The coloring is bright, page layouts, and even fonts make the book feel perfect.The ToC is:1. Illustrations (lots of them)2. Characters (104 pages worth)3. Military Affairs and Natural History (uniforms, weapons, vehicles, etc)4. Story (The in game chapters; followed by locations and other odds and ends)5. Process (Event art, cinematic art, storyboards, illustration drafts, and more)6. Interviews with the Dev Team.If you loved the first book, you will definitely love this one.

The book was well packaged. Brand new condition. The book is excellent, it has a lot of of character design sketches and even has a few drawings of the character's initial design. It also has explanations of of where they were going with their design or reasons for their choice.

Likeways the book it self is really out of sight like the 2 books before it .it is really great to at least get to understand the characters that represent the game this time aroundGOD i want to get into Imca SO BAD , but as i read the book wich is outstanding but i feel that there is something missing , i havent played this game so i didnt get into the emotions of them like i felt for selvaria , Rosie , cossete and many otherssuch a shame this is SEGA's best game franichase besides sakura wars & Skies Of Arcadia.with all great games that came out of japan the last 2 years till PxZ its SAD this is not out yetif your crazy on VC the book is woth it, but if you haven't played the game you might feel that your still kinda missing out on the game that you can't wait to get your hands on it .

Like the other artbooks for the first two games in the franchise, it's full of detailed art and info about the story, characters, weapons, vehicles and other details of the game. I also have the Japanese edition of this book (imported it before knowing it was going to be translated), and the content is pretty much the same, but in convenient English.Valkyria Chronicles 3, to this date, was not localized yet, but this artbook is, and if you don't know Japanese, now you can at least read about the game and understand what's happening story-wise.

A very good art book! Honestly helped in figuring out events in Valkyria Chronicles 3 that weren't translated in the fan translation patch, and even found out about a character I had yet to unlock. Anyone who loves this game will love this book! It's a shame that it also serves as a reminder that we will never get the game itself in English, especially when scenes are translated in this book.

Excelente artbook, aunque es una pena que no tenga un juego que lo acompañe. Si lo ven a buen precio no se lo piensen o sino va a estar tan caro como el primero.

For us who were left out of the joy of playing the game in the west, this book delivers everything you ever wanted to know about the Nameless and their story in the shadows of the Gallian-Empire war. Every character is explained in detail and even some preliminary sketches for previous versions of the characters appear.Tons of material on weapons and vehicles, as well as uniforms (those Calamity Raven look awesome).Overall, a true delight for any Valkyria Chronicles fan.

I have never played any of this game series but I still love Valkyria Chronicles 3: Complete Artworks. The details and artwork is beautiful. This book contains bios on all characters.If the cover catches your eye,then I suggest you buy.

inizio subito dicendo che questo artbook di Valkyria Chronicles 3 è bellissimotutti gli artworks all'interno sono fantasticinella parte dedicata ai personaggi della squadra 422 sono presenti delle note dei disegnatori e tutta la loro storia compresi gli schizzi scartati durante la produzione del gioco una bella aggiuntanella parte finale invece sono presenti tutti i capitoli del gioco con un riassunto della trama naturalmente il tutto è in inglese non esiste una versione italiana di questo artbooknon aggiungo altro perchè se come me amate questo gioco e amate l'arte è un acquisto obbligatorio insieme a quelli di valkyria chronicles 1 e 2vi allego due foto

Éste al igual que el libro anterior es de excelente calidad y con mucho contenido.El libro tiene unas 255 páginas aproximadamente, entre el material artistico con el que cuenta hay arte promocional del juego, diseño y bocetos de personajes, bocetos de escenarios, CG's del juego, diseño de armas, entre otras cosas; además de que cuenta con descripciones en muchas de ellas, y en el caso de los personajes te dan una breve biografía, que en caso de querer evitar spoilers no recomiendo leer, al igual que el apartado donde te dan el resumen de la historia cápitulo por cápitulo.En general me agrado bastante el libro y lo recomiendo para todos los fans de esta franquicia.

VC3 darf man seit einiger Zeit, dank umstrittender Mod, auch endlich ohne japanischkenntnise spielen. Der Realese des Artbooks in Englisch ist seitdem auch nachvollziehbar.Sauber auf über 200 Seiten, wird einem noch Mal viele Details des Spieles näher gebracht und zeigt einem auch, welcher Ideenreichtum, bei den Entwicklern, vorhanden ist. Also eine schöne Ergänzung für Kopf und Regal.
