Impressive Reading Experience at Amazon
Reading "Read All About It" is a comprehensive course in literature. This impressive book provides classic American examples of well-written biography, history, poetry, short story, novella, and journalism and offers an interesting sketch of time, place, and writer's background with each piece. The samples are so delectible that one is compelled to seek out more of the works of the writers represented. If you have a rich literary background, are knowledgeable about the 20th Century history, or appreciate opportunities to increase and share your intellect, this book will stimulate questions, research, discussion, and pondering at home, in the classroom, at the office.Preteens and teens need a great deal of support in order to connect with many of the writings because life experience is essential to appreciate the meaning. There are writings that do not require a high level of sophistication in order to enjoy them. If the instructor is selective about assignments then "Read All About It" will be an excellent experience.I have been able to give this high quality book to two like-minded friends. They were impressed and delighted. Thank you, Amazon Books, for making this book available. I plan to continue sharing this thought-worthy tome.

Don't believe the Amazon amorphous description; It's boring from start to finish.
Unfortunately, the editor's publisher is more adept at writing interesting copy than are most of the authors whose works are compiled in this woebegone collection. It's boring even when read aloud. There is no heft to the concepts, let alone any vibrancy. I bought it to read with my 10 year old granddaughter only to discover that the first story could have been written by a bored 10 year old. In fact my granddaughter did write a better story on the subject of alienation as a mixed race child in the 6th grade in Idaho. Many of the stories read like serializations from the 1940's. Poems such as "Casey at the Bat," are included. I wanted a read-aloud book simply because I had never obtained one for her. Yes, there are many known and unknown authors represented, as well as genres, but I didn't find one that my granddaughter or I enjoyed. I don't know. I can't explain the depressing reduction in quality material being offered by Amazon these days. One thing I can say positively about the bland, uninspiring book, is that it has some interesting introductions to the authors represented in the book. I gave our copies of the book to Good Will. (I bought two because I'm in the SE and my grandchildren are in the NW, so I ofter have to buy a copy of a book we want to read together. Libraries can't meet the demands of the public these days.

read all about it
This book is great to pick up and read when you have just a few minutes as well as a good sit down and read for an hour or two.The book is made up of info and pieces of actual novels. It really does a great job of giving a little bit of info about a book and then allows you to read an excerpt from that book to make you want to get the actual book!

Great stories for reading aloud
I used this text in my 9th grade classes for years. They are short and most can be read in under ten minutes. They are real attention grabbers with "Gotcha!" endings that will pique students' interest. Many are the first chapters of longer works that can foster a desire to read the entire selection. At this time, I'm using this text as a resource to tutor an adult student studying to complete her GED.

Perfect full size twin guest bed.
Very comfy full-size twin bed for any adult guest and it rolls away into the closet till you need it. Bought this particular bed after sleeping on it several times myself, as a guest. This bed is not as short as many of the rollaway cots for sale.

Wonderful!
I tell stories as a school counselor and this is one of the books that helps me more than so many others! What an amazing resource and one full of stories for me to use over and over again. Wonderful!

A nice variety of short pieces
My students really enjoyed the selections I read to them from the book. It is great resource to have on hand when you've finished your lesson and there is still five minutes left in class. It is also terrific to have for those studyhall kids who never seem to have any work ... toss it to them and say, "Have a look at this." In two minutes, they are silent, usually for the rest of the period.

Interesting.. not for my hichschool though
Stories are a bit too in depth or difficult for average teenager. Great authors, not something mine was interested in.
