Q: How can one mount this to a wall? Remove spool and bolt/lag into wood beam? Is the a mount plate for such?

The base plate (what you see the winch sitting on, in the photo) can be bolted to whatever... but, the crank needs room to turn. We bolt pipe brackets onto the base plate of our two winches... works well - but, we have room for the crank to turn.

Q: Is this a two way ratchet winch?

Yes. Depending on which way you start turning the handle when the cable is extended all the way out. Now on that note. When you receive it the cable is rolled up so you would roll it in 1 direction to real it in and the other direction to extend the cable out. It's basic. Meaning it's pretty simple.
