HERZO Dust Shroud for Angle Grinder 4/4.5/5 inch Universal Surface Grinding Shroud (125MM)

Excellent product, no dust when grinding concrete. Make sure to use attachment for shop vac to suck up dust when in use. Other reviews with poor ratings of product didn’t have a vacuum attached for dust collection.

I can't speak to the long-term durability of this item, since I've only used it for one project of grinding down a cement floor for painting, but it made it through that job and worked effectively from start to finish. It fit on my Dewalt angle grinder with no issues. Certainly a more affordable option than what my local home improvement store had on hand for a similar product, especially since it is only going to be a one-time-use item for me.

I used this dust shroud on a Ryobi angle grinder. It was easy to remove the standard shroud and install the dust shroud. Adapters of several sizes made a custom fit in a couple minutes. It's important to adjust the height of the shroud so the bristle ends are planer with the surface of the bit.The shroud is rated for bits of 4- to 5-inches diameter. I used a 4.5 inch diamond cup bit. No problems.The shroud has a section at the front that can be rotated to the left, allowing the bit to work up close to edges. With the gate open there was some dust and particle spatter. With the gate closed there was no discernible dust. I used a Festool MIDI dust extractor on maximum suction.The gate stayed closed when it should. It opened a little stiffly, which probably helped it stay closed the rest of the time. When working against an obstruction, movement of the tool from let to right may nudge the gate open. Keep an eye on that, or work from right to left.The tool included an adapter to help with the usual nightmare of getting hoses and tools to fit together. With my Festool hose the adapter was not helpful. I solved the problem by using a piece of clear tubing from a big box store. The inner diameter of the tubing was 1-1/4 inches (32 mm). The end of the Festool hose is a little larger, 35 mm. To achieve a snug fit I soaked the bottom three inches of the clear tube in boiling hot water for a couple minutes, then stretched it over the top of an empty wine bottle where the neck curved smoothly outward. After cooling slightly the tubing maintained shape and fit snugly on the Festool hose. The unstretched end fit snugly on the outside of the shroud's dust port. In operation they did not pop apart, not even once. They also detached with just a bit of effort. I only needed six inches of the clear tubing so there's plenty left to try this trick on another tool.I thought about subtracting one star for the annoyance of getting the shroud to fit my dust extraction tools but in the end it worked so well that I have to give it five full stars.Frankly I was astonished, and quite pleased, at how well the shroud contained virtually all the dust created by the diamond bit. My impression was that 99% of dust and larger particles were contained by the shroud and sucked into the vacuum.

I bought this for some flagstone grinding I was completing. Did a great job with containing the dust and keeping the area clean.The universal adapter for shop vac hose would not fit my Rigid Brand Shop Vac. Had to just tape around connection to keep it in place. Not ideal, but it worked.

In classic Chinese engineering style, someone decided that it would be OK if the output of the hose adapter was the same size as the common shop vac hose. The level of stupidity of this decision is of epic proportions. Be warned: When you buy this device and attempt to use it, YOU CANNOT. You will need to come up with some sort of means to couple your shop vac hose to the hose adapter. You might choose to duct tape the two together. You might choose to find some piece of small pipe fitting to use as a coupling. Use your imagination, because you're going to need it.Hilariously, the "hose adapter", has no real function. The outlet on the dust shroud is also the same size as the shop vac hose. So, it makes sense that you would need an adapter. But then you put the "hose adapter" into the shroud, and it "adapts" the diameter from the shroud outlet to the same diameter as the shop vac hose. The result is that it adapts the shroud from being useless to the adapter being useless. Brilliant!The instructions are really helpful, too!! That was sarcasm. "Attach vacuum hose to the adapter". Conveniently, this is one part of the instructions that doesn't include a picture. I wonder why......It's just so unbelievable that they did this. I'm wondering if they tested this thing before they started to sell it. If so, what did they use at the factory to connect the shop vac hose to the adapter? Didn't they notice that it's not going to work? Maybe China has different size shop vac hoses than others, but I have 4 different vacuums, big and small, and they all have the same size hose. It's mind blowing that you can spend $30 on an item and then have to make trips to the hardware store or your own shop, to cut things and modify things just so that you can use the stupid thing. Or that you have to use duct tape to make your brand new item usable. Idiots.DO NOT BUY THIS!!!! DO NOT BUY THIS!!!! DO NOT BUY THIS!!! DO NOT BUY THIS!!!

Arrived as described, fast shipping. Good quality product. Placed on a Dewalt 4.5 inch grinder. Used with a diamond tipped grinding cup and shop vac to remove thinset from a plywood subfloor. Was very pleased with the dust capture. Pleasently surprised! Would recommend this product.

The most difficult part was figuring out how to remove the existing guard on my grinder as that was not covered in the original manual. Once I got the original safety guard off, installing the HERZO shroud was a breeze and fit perfectly without any of the supplied spacers. The build is solid and had no issues using it for two full days. The sliding feature of the front area was welcomed making it easier to get close to the wall. I did rent a HEPA vacuum and had virtually no dust the entire time using this. It probably would work well with a regular shopvac but I didn't want to risk the dust as I was working adjacent to finished living space.
