It's beautiful and functional. The box had a hole in it when it arrived, so I got a little worried, but it was well-packaged in styrofoam and such, so undamaged. It's a tall shade, so taking that off to insert lightbulbs was a two-person job, but only took a few seconds to get those in and the shade back in place. Very easy, actually. I had two CFBs and one other incandescent bulb to put in it, but you can't tell the difference when it's lit, which is the nice part about a thicker shade. It is a lamp, not a floodlight... So you get additional light in the room, but you wouldn't want it as your only source of light in a room. There was one little dark mark on the shade like it had rubbed against the wood or something, but it's on the back near the bottom, so not a problem. I kind of wish I had one more now so I could have one on both ends of the couch. Would really look good. Love the foot switch, but I might put it on a timer as my "home security" light for when we're not home. Overall, very happy with it. Fits the lodgey/mission-style of the house.

Even better, buy two for a matching pair (what we did). This endorsement assumes you are looking for sophisticated, contemporary, decorative lamps with an Asian/Japanese flair. They look stunning together in our living room and we could not be more pleased!The only cons are trivial. The lamps come with clear incandescent bulbs but the lighting is so homogeneous and pleasant we still use these bulbs. Realize that we use other more focused lamps for reading.In addition, it should be recognized that because of the construction one of four corners of these lamps, will show a thin slightly darker vertical line where the overlapping layers meet and attach (a nit pick).Finally, I suggest unpacking it in a garage (or similar) to avoid having to vacuum up tiny styrofoam debris that is part of the protective packing.

Received these lamps and one was damaged - a corner was compressed and the finish had flaked off, exposing the cheap particle-board construction. The "wood finish" is just painted to look like wood. The lamps are a good size but because they are so cheaply made (and damaged, to boot), I returned them immediately.

This light is awesome. It’s brought so much life to my living room. Looks so much better in person. The three bulbs can be controlled independently with your home smart lights app. A little pricy, but quality cost!

Beautiful lamp. Subdued light in an elegant tower. Have used this light in a few different locations and it always pleases.

great design in the daylight! useless at night. I have tried 3 of the 150w LED and fluorescent bulbs and in both cases the shade is so thick that the illumination is terrible. I bought this because I was looking for a great looking lamp. But while it looks as good in real life as on the website, it is an utter failure as a lamp.The construction was fairly well done. a few blemishes on the wood, and the base weight makes it relatively stable for something so tall and narrow. But I'm returning this cuz I actually need light, not a lamp that only looks good in daylight.

The lamp is very attractive, just as in the picture, and admirably performs the function for which I purchased it -- providing enough illumination so that a formerly dark, rather forlorn-looking corner of my large living room looks cheery. Overall I'm satisfied with my purchase and would recommend it to others, but my rating is 4 stars rather a perfect 5 for some quality issues.The lamp was very securely packaged. Despite there being a hole gouged into the side of the outer box, the lamp was well protected and undamaged (I don't believe that the quality issues were from rough handling).As another reviewer noted, this lamp will not illuminate an entire room. It's an accept lamp, which is just what I wanted, but readers should be aware of what they are buying. To provide some feel for this, with the maximum allowed 60W bulbs and placing a chair next to it, I found that I *could* read with this as the room's only light source, but I wouldn't *want* to. It's not that kind of light (nor did I buy it for this purpose, so that's fine).I noticed that one reviewer said that removing the shade (to insert or change light bulbs) is a two-person job. It doesn't have to be. The lamp is lighter than it looks, and it's easy to lay it on its side, so sliding the shade out can be done even with just one hand.One star off for quality problems. These issues might have been okay for a less expensive item, but for the price I do expect good fit and finish. The corners of the shade tend to project just a bit, leaving a gap at the bottom between the shade and the base. The shade dims the light quite a bit, so the unshaded light from the gap is noticeable. This might not bother everyone but it bugged me. Turning the shade end for end and rotating 180 degrees provides four possible positions. I found just one position that did not leave a gap at the bottom. That alone wouldn't merit a star off, but be aware that you might have to fuss with the shade to get it to look right.My main complaint is that on the lamp that I received, the metal support rod is not straight at the top, and it's far too thick to bend into correct position. Because of that, the finial is tilted enough to look wrong, and I had to use a crescent wrench to remove it (not a lot of force was needed, but more than I could apply with fingers alone). In the end I decided it looked better just leaving the tilted finial off. And whether I had the finial on or not, the top wooden crown piece would not seat smoothly against the body of the lamp. There's a gap, so it does not look like one smooth assembly. The lamp works well and looks great from across the room, but these defects are noticeable closer up.

Love these lamps. Works and look great. This is the second one that I have purchased. Bought the first one a couple of years ago and wife loved it. This year it got moved to the bedroom during Christmas time and there it will stay, ordered another for living room. Only reason I am giving this four starts instead of five is because the shade on the second one that I ordered is more white than the original. In our opinion the 60w bulbs were to bright and so had to go purchase 40w to make it more like the first one.
