It's All About the Little White Dog: A History of the West Highland White Terrier

In the 39 years my husband and I have been married he's read two of my books, of which this is one, and that's probably the sum total of his book reading altogether, (not counting technical books, of which there have been many). That's a good indicator of how much we both appreciated IT'S ALL ABOUT THE LITTLE WHITE DOG and what a unique find this book proved to be! As the author points out, one seeks information about the development of the West Highland Terrier breed only to get 'two short paragraphs' no matter where they look. This is a very small book, but it didn't need to be any longer, and it's obvious attention was paid to every detail Ashleen O'Gaea gathered, which I suspect was quite a task! It's what I'd call a fairly "dry" read, but there is a wee story in it about one of the Colonel's favorite dogs who was lost, located, and rescued thanks to "smarts" on both sides - man and dog - which I've enjoyed sharing with others when I tell them about this book.

Great little book on the Westie. No as comprehensive as I would have liked, and some of the pictures are older digital technology, so not the best. Good information and interesting to see the changes in the Westie breed down through the years.
