I can't find a better BBQ book out there!
Wow! What a piece of work this book is!Upon first receiving this book I was slightly dismayed. I took a quick stroll through, observing the layout and I was less then impressed. That is - until I really sat down and started reading. There may not be pretty pictures of the dish results, nor are there pictures of how to prepare each dish step by step, what there is however, is a giant tome of BBQ greatness and a whole lot of history with each recipe.I really enjoy this book because it's not just another recipe book. The book starts out by teaching you the history of American BBQ. There are epic pictures peppered throughout this book showing the real BBQ culture. Author Steve Raichlen shares some of his personal stories, like this story about a really tough salmon bake where he had to feed roughly 600 people... but how he did it is truly obscene - it's great!Do you cook BBQ for breakfast? (not including camping trips)Are you tired of the plain ol' burger, chicken and steak meals?Do you enjoy BBQ so much that you want to start learning every single aspect of it?Does your wife think you hate her cooking because you BBQ so much?If you answered yes to the above questions then this book is for you.

My #1 source of recipes for grill and smoker
A co-worker recommend this book years ago when I bought my first smoker. I have made several of the recipes over the years and my favorite is the Lexington Style BBQ pork.I have given several copies to friends over the years and recently purchased a copy for my son when he moved into a house and bought his own smoker.

A very entertaining book
I saw some of the reviewers complain about the format and how stories were mingled with the recipes. I found this to be a refreshing way to "read" a cookbook. I actually have been reading the whole thing, not just scanning the recipes. This book is a very entertaining read as well as educational. I have learned so much more about grilling and smoking (this coming from a typical man who thinks he knows everything about grilling). If you want to learn about regional barbecues and how to do them in your backyard. Mr. Raichlen gives clear instructions on how to prep the food and how to build your fire (or set your gas grill). My wife is thrilled because I'll be doing more cooking outdoors!

it's good, but he's written better
This book contains a lot of great recipes. I especially like the TN pork loin, his Dr. Pepper bbq sauce, and the pork sates. The instructions have always been clear, and nothing I've made has failed to impress. The book also contains bbq folklore that some people might find interesting. The stories about bbq weren't the highlight of the book for me.If I were only getting one Raichlen book, it would be "How To Grill." That book has less recipes, but it has pictures and covers more details on grilling technique. "How to Grill" also felt better organized to me. If you're new to bbq, "How to Grill" is definately the way to go. Grillmasters may want to go with this book for extra recipes and stories.Another issue I have with Raichlen is his ingredients lists. Often, he uses what I would call exotic ingredients and unusual cuts of meat. These recipes have pushed me to try new things, but it's also kind of a pain that many of the recipes require trips to Asian markets or other specialty foods stores.

Easy BBQ book
I watched four of his cooking videos before getting his book BBQ USA from Amazon. He wasn't kidding, all of his recipes are easy to make and don't require many ingredients. Nothing fancy, you already have everything in your kitchen. The book is easy to read and has easy to follow directions. My goal this summer was to learn how to cook a meal on the grill. Guess what, I've done it. I've even made a peach cobbler on the grill. You will use this book often.

BBQ lovers Dream!
If you are a person who loves the recipes, the duty of grilling but also loves the history behind the work, the spice, the sauce, the technique, this book is certainly for you! You will spend hours reading all of the backstory it gives you before you even start grilling. It truly has a recipe for every taste bud out there. From one side of the U.S. clear to the other side. It is all packed in there. I purchased this for my husband and I have enjoyed it equally as much!

A great guide to a great way of cooking
Raichlen writes good BBQ cook books. I like his kinda folksy down home writing style that makes recipies easily understandable and doable. He is an expert on BBQ and this book helps make it easy and tasty to prepare using this great cooking method. In his recipies he often will talk about the difference between charcoal burning BBQs and gas burners, which makes the book useful for just about everyone.

Best BBQ recipe book I own
I bought this book a couple years ago and originally didn't make much out of it because I foolishly thought a lot of the recipes were too complicated. Later I realized that was a ridiculous notion and I started making all sorts of amazing meals from this book. I've already had it fall apart at the chicken section - I've made nearly every entry in that chapter multiple times, and they always end up being a huge hit.I later bought the Barbecue Bible, which is also good, but after starting with BBQ USA the Barbecue Bible is collecting dust by comparison. I've bought this as gifts several times now, insisting that everyone I know tries my favorite recipes from it.

Comprato due volte: sia in versione kindle che versione cartacea. La versione kindle era in offerta a 1,95 euro...Sono fermamente convinto che i libri di cucina vadano presi cartacei. Le immagini nel testo e la comodità di poterli sfogliare mentre si è all'opera sui fornelli non si possono riprodurre ancora con gli e-book.Come tutti i libri di Raichlen però possiamo anche leggere questo libro come un saggio su quella che probabilmente è la "vera" cucina americana: il BBQ. Raichlen non ha bisogno di presentazioni, consiglio a chi non lo conosca il meraviglioso "How to grill"

Kurz und Bündig: "Das Lehrbuch"
Das war mein erstest BBQ-Buch was ich mir angeschafft habe.In meiner "Ausprobierzeit" genau das richtige. Einfache mobs, rubs, viele super Variationenen was das amerikanische Smoken so zu bieten hat.Iwie ein muss für jeden der Anfängt zu smoken. Ist nach über 10 Jahren immer noch das erste Buch was ich in die hände nehme wenn ich Gäste bekomme.GrüßeLow & Slow
