Q: How long it takes to cook a pot of white rice?

20minutes, 40 for brown --same as in a regular pot --be sure to rinse all rice first to remove arsenic and other contaminants. Brown rice is worth the time in terms of nutrition (protein, fiber, vita ins) and taste. I like to first warm oil, salt and dehydrated onion (you can also do some minced carrot for nice color, vitamins, flavor) in the cooker, then add rice and let it brown (if I have time) before adding the water (2:1 ratio, more water for stickier rice and less for more defined, chewy grains).

Q: How long does it take this cooker to make 2 cups of raw rice?

2 cups is more than I have ever cooked in this cooker but I know a cup of rice will cook in about 20 minutes.

Q: Can it be used for steaming food?

I wouldn't use it to steam food. There are some great rice cookers on the market right now that even come with a steamer basket. My suggestion would be to search for a rice cooker with a steamer basket.
