The shoes come pre-laced and they are elastic. The ends are crimped as they are meant to stay in the shoe. However, you can easily cut and remove them so that you can lace with your own.

Great shoe. Durable, comfortable, and good soles.

Q: How do the laces stay tight?

The laces on these shoes are made into the shoe. You cannot loosen or tighten them. They do however stay snug for as long as I had my shoes. I'm on my fourth pair. Love them!
