We have a 7-year old GE Profile counter depth french door refrigerator. The top half is a refrigerator and the bottom is a freezer. We noticed that the refrigerator seemed warm and when we checked the electronic screen, the temp was 50 degrees. After some research on the internet and youtube, we diagnosed the possible problem as a failed evaporator fan in the refrigerator. Of course, this happened on a Friday night and we were concerned about the food spoiling and getting someone in quick to look at it. Luckily, the temperature outside was 30 degree overnight, so we packed up the food and placed it in the garage. We decided to try fixing the fan ourselves. Neither of us have any background in doing this, but we knew it would be an expensive fix if we called in a refrigerator tech and would have to wait until Monday to do so. So we unplugged the refrigerator and through the videos, we learned how to dismantle the refrigerator to get to the fan. Although we didn't have the equipment to check the voltage of the fan, we decided to take a chance and order this part using overnight shipping from Amazon. The part arrived the next evening and we went to work. It took just a few minutes to install the fan, put some of the refrigerator parts back together (to avoid electrocuting ourselves), then replug to see if it would work. Within minutes the refrigerator software reset itself and the fan went to work. We were very lucky as from our research we also learned that it could have been another issue dealing with a burned out capacitor on the motherboard. In all, we are very happy that we were able to fix the issue, save our food and the cost for a repair tech to fix.

About 6 months ago, my 2015 GE Refrigerator began squealing then howling from the refrigerator compartment, then the compartment would NOT keep cold. The freezer worked fine. I found that the refrigerator had an evaporator in the compartment that required a fan to distribute the cold air within the compartment. That fan had failed. [Ruined about all the contents]. This was the cheapest fan I could find that was a direct replacement. HOWEVER, I about choked at paying $51 for a stinking muffin fan!!!!! Given time, I could have easily found a fan of the exact specifications and size to replace this one for LESS THAN $15!!! One would think that for $51 the fan would be variable speed-NO, have some sort of performance reporting system-NO or at least notify the user that the fan had failed-AGAIN NO!! As the manufacturer knows, when the system fails, you have to move quickly to recover the operation, in short, YOU PAY!!

As long as you haven't updated your fridge's software it's plug and play, once plugged in the fan turned on after 1min or so. Great time to clean the frig since everything is out.

The appliance repair person said I would have to purchase a new refrigerator as the part was discontinued. This is a replacement part, but it was the exact same motor my refrigerator had. It was extremely easy to replace. It took meAbout 40 min. Great product and perfectFit.

I went through several options while picking a replacement part for our GE Cafe fridge (CYE22TSHPSS).One of the concerns people brought up with some other replacement parts was that the other fans didn't have variable speed. This part definitely does do variable speed and works like charm.

It was easy to install. It works like it is supposed to.

Fridge was very quiet with previous fan. This fan has more blades and is much more loud than OEM.
