Q: does anyone know what the weight of a single strip is?

My food scale reads that one strip is 1/8oz or 5g

Q: will the lead leach into the water will it change the PH of my aquarium

No the lead won't leach into the water. I don't think I would use these in a marine aquarium, but we very seldom have live plants in those anyway. They do not alter the ph of freshwater tanks, but be aware that your animals will eventually defeat these and your plants will float anyway. My best success has been potted plants without weights but these work well for bare root and stems

Q: Why do they recommend that you wash your hands after handling these?

These are made of pure lead. Lead poisoning is a thing. Granted, you won't get enough lead on your hands to harm you if you only handle them a few times, but why risk it?
