Easy application, great color, prep important!
Really pleased with this product. The package I received said "teak sealer", not "teak oil sealer." -Amount: I treated a new dining table table and an older bench with two coats, and used 1/3 can. -Color: it's a warm teak color. Some reviewers think it's a little orange. To me it's a great teak tone. -Sealer vs oil: did a lot of research about this, as my experience with oil is not great. Used it on the bench, and it just lacks the staying power. Research says use a Sealer rather than oil, and this brand ranks high. -Prep: the prep for the new table was super easy. It sat outside four weeks (recommended in one article) before sealing. I simply wiped it down and allowed it to dry before applying. The prep for the older bench was a pain. It really did look bad in spite of having been oiled and partially protected by a screen porch all of its life. I scrubbed it with a combo of water, dish detergent, and bleach using a Dobie. And at times a plastic brush. A lot of gunk came off. After drying, sanded with medium grain paper, which removed most but not all the oil residue. Then wiped it with a wet rag several times. I did not use the multiple prep products that Starbrite sells. -Application - this is the easy part. This product goes on super easy. It is not as drippy as oil. You need to apply it outside to have the UV rays. Lay a tarp below to protect your deck or patio, have a clean rag handy and apply with a sponge brush. Dip brush just 1/4 inch or so. Apply with even strokes, stopping at seams. Go back after several minutes wiping/buffing with your rag - very important. Beautiful! -Duration: time will tell whether this will be more lasting and durable than oil. Research says it will. Fingers crossed!

Gives a warm attractive look
Although some reviewers say it turned their teak orange, I found that not to be the case. It does have a tint that is warm, but a pleasing look if you don’t want the silvery weathering look, or want to delay it. A quart goes a long long way if you apply it thin, with just the slightest dab on a foam brush. I still have a little left after sealing a loveseat, chair, ottoman and two side tables. The furniture in my photos are new, one month old under a pergola, and the loveseat was unboxed and assembled the day of sealing. They all look the same after sealing, whether a month of exposure or right out the box. The wood will chew up foam brushes quickly so buy a half dozen, or a brush or two per pieces of furniture. I have no comment on longevity since I just applied it but it is easy to work with, nice and thin, and I like the look. It does take a while to cure, maybe a couple full days of direct sunlight, so be patient and make sure its cured before you put cushions on it.

Fabulous Product
I've ordered this product many times...that tells you its a great product. We use it for our teak dec table and chairs, which are 13yrs old. The table and chairs had been previously treated with a terrible product that id nothing! I love this teak sealer because it covers nicely and the colours are lovely, but mostly because it does not chip or flake off with age. It simply fades away with time and weather. We store the table and chairs in an unheated shed over the winter of -25 to -30°C temps. The table and chairs can go 2 years between applications of this product, which is a Godsend because other products desperately need reapplication every year. Our summer temps reach +30°C so the teak sealer does get tested regularly.
