Great product for small tanks, tricky to put together
I've been using this filter for several months now and I love it. It works very well and is very affordable for what you get. The sponge and the pump are small and work well for a 5 gal aquarium while still providing enough filtration and space for beneficial bacteria that my paramaters are always perfect. Pretty quiet air pump (MUCH quieter than my old HoB) but still has good pressure. My only complaints are that 1) it is tricky to put together if you have not used one before and there's no instructions and 2) the knob to control air pressure is a little finicky (but this can be circumvented by kinking the air like). Overall I really like this and would buy again, especially for a betta tank.

Works great
I got this for a 2 gallon planted cookie jar. It is very small the perfect size. It was plug and and go.

CONFUSING. TERRIBLE. Item is being returned.
I just don’t like it. I don’t understand how this thing is supposed to be built as there is no instructions. The image on Amazon and the box did not help whatsoever. Reviews show it built in all kinds of ways which probably means the filter isnt functioning properly if it wasn’t built properly. When I built it I had leftover pieces. I couldn’t figure out what I’m supposed to do with the stone. It seems like it can act as a filter OR a bubbler but not both. Other reviews say that they made cuts and modified it. You shouldn’t have to guess and modify something that was supposed to be ready out the box. The pump is not quiet. It makes a buzzing noise that is louder when the valve is barely open then quiet when the valve is open. Even the filter made a noise, when water rose to the surface it sounded like big bursts of air coming out of the water. The pump heats up after a few hours. The pump is average size, the sponge is super small so I’m kind of questioning its integrity as a filter. I couldn’t find a good balance of water output for my 6 gallon tank, it felt like when I would try and find the right balance it was either too weak or way too strong, the water was literally rocking and would be way to strong if I had fish in there. Not worth the money unless you’re up for a guessing game. I think it’s better suited in bigger tanks but I’m unsure of its ability to act as a filter. The sponge is MAYBE the size of a ping pong ball if a ping pong ball had a hole in the middle. I’m returning this and getting a refund.

No instructions, but it works like a charm!
I bought this for our family goldfish “Wednesday and Sally”. I keep them in a 1 gallon vase with a propagated plant on a table top. I bought this to keep their water nice and clean because it was always dirty from them being in such a small space.(we are upgrading to a bigger tank soon which is why I didn’t want to spend so much money on a filter.) and I figured that if I like this, I will buy more in the future to use for bettas. Like everyone else has mentioned, this item does not come with instructions. I had looked up some YouTube videos before the product even got here to be prepared. Maybe half an hour and 2-3 videos later, this is the result, @_@ I think I did it correctly. I had 2 pieces left over after I assembled it. And it isn’t very loud, but I do keep it in the next room and my apartment is usually very noisy anyway with 3 kids. Another thing is that I have to put a rock or plant over it to hold it down because it was trying to float to the top. The water looks clean and the fish look happy. Save yourself the time and use my photos as a guide. Yes I would buy this again.

Everything you need!
I had to find three separate videos to explain how to properly setup this filter, to the check valve, and the air flow release. I’m thinking of adding my own YouTube video since it was so damn hard to find one with all three. I added a video for you here to save you time. Anyway, here’s my review. Air Pump: vibrates loud, so I put a microfiber towel under it and this helped. Strong airflow, so extremely kind to provide the adjustable air connector for Betta tank owners or small tanks that don’t need a lot of air flow. Bio Sponge: looks decent and is a good size for a 5.5 gallon tank. Anything smaller than a 3gal would take up space. Even then, 3 gal for this air sponge would be pointless, you’re better off only using the air stone and switching out the water every month or 3 weeks. Tubes: Comes with a skinny tube already connected, this is for the air stone. And a larger tube in a pkg, this is for the sponge filter. Check Valve: necessary for sponge filters to prevent back flow. After connecting the larger tube to the sponge filter, drop it into the tank it may float a little, leave it for now and just get it to where its sitting on the bottom, then cut the tube hanging over the top of the tank about 2-3 inches and attach the valve (tube on each side) *the correct side is the flat side of the red piece inside of the valve faces the air pump and point red end facing the tank. The tubes should be connected on each side. Now connect the tube to the air pump and place the air pump anywhere nearby (the bottom, next to the tank, on top) - NOW add the control air stopper - keep a minimum 5 inches from the air pump but must be BEFORE the check valve ( not before the check valve) and cut the tube again, then connect each tube where the air holes are (there’s only two) the twist top should be facing on top. Now plug in the air pump and NOW go into your tank to gently squeeze the sponge a few times while it’s on to keep it from floating. Adjust the air flow by twisting the top of the air flow connector.

Bad vibrations
Love the price for everything included, the pump however is majorly loud and vibrates more than the tetra pumps.. id buy the sponge kit seperate and go get a better pump... terrible pump, replacing it this weekend with a better brand. Would be 5 stars if no issues all around.

This is great little thing to have for my 15 gallons tank. I bought it because I have to remove bio filter when I’m doing 7 days treatment for my sick fish. The pump is really quiet! It has 4 soft yet supporting silicone feet to reduce the vibration. I put it on flat surface. It’s doesn’t move and hardly to notice the noise. My fish are very happy with it. They love to swim around the tube, go or against with water flow. The sponge filter did flow at the beginning but stayed down after 3 or 4 days. I didn’t glue it on the tank. Instruction is kind of poor for first time fish owner. Filter is easy to set up. But I couldn’t figure out how to connect valve to air stone. I’m sure I can find out on YouTube. But it will save me few mins if they put a picture to show how to connect them. Overall it is great product at great value that suits my needs.

I love how this product comes with everything you need for a working sponge filter. Air pump makes almost no noise and works perfectly. The only obstacle I encountered was putting the filter together. However it was very easy to set up once I looked at a YouTube video. This filter has already transformed my aquarium in less then one day, and I recommend you buy this If you need clear water in your tank.

I am really pleased with this purchase. It works well, the pump is quiet, and adjustable. The sponge filter is a good size for a small tank. It could use a gang valve since it has the sponge filter, and an air stone. It could also use better instructions.

Good little Pump. I am using it in an Aerogarden that pump died (older model where you can't get replacement pumps). I've had it running for a few weeks and its doing its job! Its not silent by any means, but its not too loud, probably as loud as the old pump...but definitely way more powerful. Works great for my application. Will update my review if problems occur since its still early days.

i've got two of these for my both my fish tanks, one with a sponge filter & one without. they both started off pretty quiet but over a few days one of them has got a lot louder (which sucks.. switched my old filter to a sponge filter because it was too loud and now this one is just as loud.. 🤦♀️), however the other has stayed quiet, but still shouldn't be advertised as silent. other than that good for the price, works well and keeps my fish happy
