Highly recommended by a Friend and exceeds my expectations!
The boots arrived and after removing them from the package I immediately noticed how light weight they were, but extremely well made. I was concerned about the design due to the rigid looking exterior. I decided to wear them for one full day inside my home as not to damage the product in case i needed to return due to sizing issues. After two hours of wearing it was apparent that the boots became more comfortable and like a friend had told me, "they start to feel like you have that comfortable pair of tennis shoes, like an old friend". Now I am not going to say that the break in period will be immediate, and the company gives directions on breaking in. Also I purchased their Kenetrek waterproofing boot wax after seeing their warning to not use mink oil or any other type of waterproofing. I am not the typical consumer since I have been in several accidents which altered my right foot and ankle. This brand and boot style exceeds my expectations and comfort and I have decided that the boots are too nice to wear at work and they will be exclusive to hiking/hunting and when I am on snow removal operations. THANK YOU KENETREK ! I cannot wait to get my next pair on non-insulated this next Spring 2023~!

Excellent boot, extremely comfortable
Bought these for an upcoming hunt out west. Still getting them broke in but have roughly 20 miles on them during this hunting season. I have extremely flat feet and use orthotics but there is plenty of room in them even for my wide flat feet the insoles and thick socks. I'm very happy with this purchase and may buy another pair with more insulation.

My new favorite boot
I anguished over what new boot to buy after my old favorites (mendles) wore out. I am a large guy who spends a ton of time hiking and hunting. I need good support due to aging ankles, knees etc.I gave these a shot. Wow. Extremely comfortable out of the box. Perfect support and I consider them an upgrade to my previous favorites. Traction seems great.Insoles are adequate for average person, however I will be upgrading. Laces and hooks are great. I am between an 11.5 and 12 with dinners and Keens. Got the 12m and they fit perfectly with hunting socks. Expensive but seem with it to me.Very happy with this purchase3/20/2023 update: Be careful walking down wooden stairs, deck, wooden bridges...any treated, weathered decking. Especially if it is looking green from algae. Or think of those little wooden bridges you sometimes run across when out hiking state forests. You are taking your life into your own hands!!!. You can climb a 90 degree mountain slope with extreme confidence in these boots. But try walking down wooden deck steps that are damp with morning dew...and you risk life and limb!

Are these the boots for you? Maybe/Maybe not.
I have now had my Kenetrek Men's Mountain Extreme 400 insulated boots for a full year and finally feel qualified to give an objective review. Like others who have reviewed this product, the first thing I noticed was how uncomfortable the provided insoles were. Horrible. But that was easily remedied with a pair of high quality work boot style insoles. The fit was perfect for size in my 10 1/2W and the boots were pretty comfortable right out of the box. They do require a break in period to adjust to your feet. I would say that mine felt broke in after about 20 miles. I now have about 700 miles on them and they are still quite comfortable, with no breaking down of the foot bed, or any other part of the boot. The sole still has about 50% tread remaining. The boots are very warm and are comparable to several 800 gram hunting boots I've owned. I kept the boots relatively clean and used the Kenetrek boot treatment periodically and had no water leakage through the Wintexโข waterproof barrier despite hiking and hunting exclusively in an extremely wet (Kodiak, Alaska) environment. The boot tongue is a little stiff at first and this is where some of your break in will be required. The good thing is that the tongue tucks into the boot along the side folds easily, and laces up securely providing good side support. The eye rings and hooks are extremely strong and I don't think you could break one accidentally if you tried. I tried a lot. The ankle support is very good without being too stiff and I felt very little heel slide in the boots, even on extreme side hills. I did notice some pressure on my heels in the area of the rubber rand where it overlaps the back stay when side hilling, but never experienced any bruising or blistering. Now for the negative. You would think that a boot made for extreme mountain conditions would have a sole and tread pattern that would stick like glue to a variety of surfaces in wet, icy, or otherwise slippery conditions. These boots are the opposite of those boots. The first time I went for a hike I nearly wiped out on every wet stick, stone, limb, root, rock, and slick spot I encountered. Which seemed like every other step. Luckily I use trekking poles and had a couple of extra contact surfaces when one foot or the other tried to sneak out from under me. I have had slick boots before but found that they usually get better as they wear in. Not these boots. After a full year I am still slipping and sliding all over Kodiak, but being the stubborn man I am I refuse to yield. Once they have reached the end of their somewhat useful life and lack any further redeeming qualities, I will throw their happy asses in the nearest dumpster and never look back. If you live in a dry climate, without anything more slippery than dry grass, or dry rocks, or dry sticks, or dry sand, these boots will do a nice job. If you live in Alaska or the Pacific Northwest coastal region, you might want to look at other boots.

Perfect Fit and Unbelievably Comfortable
This was the third pair of boots I tried. The jump in good fit, comfort, and quality with this boot was a quantum leap. The fit is perfect and the boots feel broken in right out of the box. I didn't want to take them off. The quality is excellent from the leather to the loops and even the laces. I'm really looking forward to using them in the snow on long hikes. You can certainly spend less but your feet will thank you for buying these boots and my guess is they will last a long time.

Nice boots
Awsome boots. Been hicking in rain for a week in the Rockies. Feet are always dry and warm. I would feel real comfortable hicking out big game on my back without worrying about flimsy boots Buy em
