Hi. You must turn the little dial on the back which will move the hands on the front. That's what has worked for me. Hope this helps you.

I didn't actually weigh it, by my clock is super light-might be a difference in metal thickness/type used for the clock?

I used regular AA or AAA batteries (Energizer).

Probably not, it's not a high-end type of clock and the clock size I ordered was 40cm and it wasn't close to the size on the picture. Hope this helps.
