Q: Will this lock work on my 04 Chevy Silverado z71?

It worked just fine on a 2005 Silverado 4X4 tailgate. If you have a backup camear it may be an issue, but I do not have one on my truck.

Q: this piece is 100% safe for chevrolet silverado 2006?

Yes it is perfectly safe! It is just as advertised. Simple installation and it works well. Provides an excellent locking solution on my 2006 Silverado. I have had it about 5 months now. It prevents the right hand latch from being opened while it is locked.

Q: Will this lock my tailgate and not let it open or just stop from being able to remove the tailgate?

I have an '07 GMC Sierra, and this completely locks the tailgate handle (and hence the removal of the tailgate itself). I am positive that if someone WANTED to hack it, it is doable, just like anything else. I use my lock all the time, and have been satisfied that it will deter someone from initially getting into my truck bed.

Easy install

Lock was easy to install, work smoothly. Would suggest to anyone installing this lock to spray the lock down with fluid film or other corrosion inhibitor as the tailgate will see a lot of spray from driving in wet or snowy weather.

Be careful with warehouse ones

My truck is a year covered with this and I bought from Amazon but from warehouse and it was missing the top nut part. I had one that would work so it was okay, but install was easy and it's a great addition for my truck bed security and looks good too.

This lock showed in 2 days. Unexpected. Install was easy, just follow instructions. Looks good installed, works great.

Good security!!!

This lock will do the job and looks good BUT...DO NOT USE THE ONE-WAY SCREW THEY PROVIDE!! Use a hex bolt screw. I used the one way screw and the lock wasn't sitting right and DAM you know the rest.. But after the correction, works like a champ!!
