Excellent jazz chord book and essential substitution lessons
I have some really good jazz chord books, but I was attracted to this one after reading some good reviews in the jazz forums, and here in Amazon. They were not wrong: this is an excellent chord book: it gives lots of clear information about substitutions and progressions that I wonder why this book is not as popular as Mickey Baker's. I don't care either for the first soloing part: the second part dedicated to chords and chord substitutions is a MUST!!!! Essential purchase.

The best single book for Jazz guitar seen yet!
I have yet to find another Jazz guitar method book as practical as this one. This is not a great place to start but if you already have a good basic understanding of the instrument, can read music and understand basic chord theory, then you're probably ready for this book. If you take your time and work through this text diligently, both your improvising and rhythm playing will be greatly improved. Good luck!

Good foundation for chords
The chord section of Lee's book is very logical and builds up from triads, giving the student a very complete understanding of the basic building blocks of harmony. The chapters concerning solo playing are approached in a similar way, so they only scratch the surface in a very guitaristic way of moving pre-set melodic items around according to the changes. For chords, it is one of the most logical approaches I've seen so far.

A great Jazz guitar method
I found this book on a jazz website and comes highly recommended so I thought I'd give it a go.A brilliant book! I think it's two books in one as the original was in two volumes. It really does take you from beginnings in music reading to a competent level.Yes, it is a music notation based text only but that's a good thing. I have noticed a few grammatical typos in the printing.A good book to add to your Jazz guitar book collection.

Jazz Guitar Method
