BASED SOLELY ON ARRIVAL: I had ordered this and the sharpening stone kit. I was worried it might arrived damaged because I know these stones are fragile. I’ve been research what to buy for over a month. Honestly these two seemed the best based on what they had to offer. I was excited to see a very large whetstone to sharpen my carving tools on, that hopefully wouldn’t cause cancer? I probably will still wear a medical mask while sharpening just in case. Didn’t seem this will be dusty like other “polishing stones” I’ve seen so that made me excited. It arrived perfect. No chips or dents. Once I start sharpening my tools I’ll update my review. I did see someone say soak the stone for a good 30 minutes before use, I’ll look into that.

It implies these troughs will fit any blade you wish to sharpen. Kinda. It does a lot, but I get as good or better with wet or oil stones….even with sandpaper. I imagine it’s up to a persons skill and needs. The next buyer may love it. It is well made
