Bought this so I could work on my car in the evenings during winter when the sun goes down early (no garage, have to work outdoors). No major work, oil changes, changing headlights, minor stuff etc. It comes with two double A batteries and the light is 100% bright enough to work in the complete dark. The first mode (big light on the body) has a decent spread and will light up a big enough section for you to work on without needing to move it. The narrower top beam is dimmer and good for pointing at a specific spot but definitely won't be something you want to use as a substitute for a better torch style flash light but will do in a pinch. it has great magnets on the bottom that will easily stick to metal and not move at all, of course you can bump into it and move it but you'll need to pull it off it probably won't just fall from a bump. You can also adjust it to different angles and set it down and it'll balance on itself without needing to prop it on anything. The brightness isn't anything to brag about but for the price you can't ask for anything more. The batteries it came with so far have lasted 4 hours with no change in brightness, will update when they start to die out. Dropped it a few times and it's survived, feels durable but not too heavy. Enough heft to feel comfortable knowing you can be rough with it (to a point) and not break anything. Sorry for the video, it's hard to show how bright it is when my phone camera kept adjusting the exposure in complete darkness.

Love these Cliplight Pivot 33 LED worklights. Initially purchased two for the bed of my 2016 Tundra pickup truck with tonneau cover. The idea was to place one in each side of the bed within easy reach while standing beside the open tailgate. That worked out very well, with the magnets ensuring they don't slide around and the light from either bright enough to illuminate the entire truck bed sufficiently. Also like the idea of potentially using them for roadside repairs. However, when I had to do some work under the kitchen sink recently, I decided to try one of these instead of a regular worklight or flashlight. Didn't want water hitting a corded electric worklight, plus hate inevitably laying on uncomfortable power cords. Sitting out of the way in a corner of the cabinet under that sink, that one Cliplight, swiveled up towards the work, provided enough light to easily see everything. At that point, I decided to purchase two more for the workshop. And, while waiting for the last two to arrive, I had yet another opportunity to use the first two again while wiring an accessory under my truck. There's no doubt these Cliplights will be my primary "go to" worklights from now on. The small flashlight on the end is nothing special. I have some tiny, cheap, HF metal LED lights which are nearly as bright. No, where these Cliplights truly shine is as worklights or similar, especially in confined spaces. They'll be very handy this summer while camping with our RV travel trailer.

They are wonderful lights.

The ClipLight is a good LED 'trouble light', with dual-function as a flashlight. It is by far the brightest battery-operated light I've owned in 40 years (and it puts to shame the flashlights we used as Boy Scouts a decade before that). The shape and surface-texture feel 'right', and I am delighted that the batteries can be changed! As for brightness, the light has 28 LED bulbs and runs on four AA batteries (if you are considering one of the cheaper brands, count how many LED bulbs they have). I was pleased that the light came with four alkaline batteries (manufacturers typically give you the cheapest batteries available; it's not rechargeable, and when the alkaline batteries wear out, I'll put in lithium batteries). Another nice touch: three of these batteries were pre-installed, with the forth one was loose in the package ... I had only to install the fourth battery: since there wasn't a completed circuit without the fourth battery, the pre-installed batteries didn't drain! The center push button cycles through three states: off; 'trouble light'; and flashlight (the latter turns on five LED bulbs in the front cap of the light). There are magnets in the base and there's a hook that you can pull up (I need the hook when trying to carry a dish of dog food and a dish of water at the same time). The light's tilt mechanism has four 'click' positions, ranging from straight-ahead to pointing directly upwards; the light can be angled only in these four positions. I must report two problems about the ClipLight. 1. It (at least the one I received from Amazon) comes in plastic bubble-wrap, taped shut. That and the fourth battery are all I received: there was no box; no instructions for use and care; no warranty statement; no information about how to contact the company. 2. The push button is on the same side as the 'trouble light' (should be on the opposite side). Naturally, I push the button with my thumb, as I expect most people would do, but that makes the intense glare of 28 LED bulbs point right into my eyes! The only workaround is to turn the light over and operate the button with your index finger, which is not intuitive. Due to these problems I give the ClipLight four stars, reluctantly since it's far better than my last LED 'trouble light'. I bought this light mainly for doing work on my truck. A friend of mine has an auto mechanic shop; he has a Snap-On Tools LED 'trouble light' that he uses all the time. It's similar to a ClipLight, but it's smaller and I think my friend can tilt the beam in whatever angle he wants. (BTW: it also is made in China, as is the ClipLight. My friend said he paid $60 for it.) I wasn't able to get a Snap-On light (real ones apparently are available only from Snap-On dealers). There reportedly are counterfeit Snap-On LED lights available on the Internet, but I've read they aren't as good as the real ones. Anyway, I am content with my ClipLight so-far, especially after my frustrations with the LED light it is replacing (see below). I used to tell people: the only thing I ever bought from China that I like is my "Power On Board" rechargeable LED 'trouble light'. Sadly, after years of service, that light isn't holding a good charge; I can't see any way to change the batteries except to take screws out and disassemble the whole thing! But I'm not going to do that, because I have a much worse problem about it: I get very annoyed and inconvenienced when I can't get that light to stay in a position to shine directly on my work. (It was never bright enough for critical work at night anyway.) All of these problems seem to be resolved by the ClipLight. I must say, though, I got years of service out of my old LED 'trouble light', in contrast to more than a dozen "Use a few times, then dispose of properly" flashlights from China. I notice that the ClipLight brand is Canadian. Maybe that's why this light seems to be designed and manufactured with somewhat more care and attention-to-detail than I expect from U.S. companies that do their manufacturing in China. (I suspect that many of the U.S. companies just buy Chinese consumer products and put a "U.S.A." brand on them -- maybe that's why most battery-operated drills I see at a building supply look to have the same mechanism, just different outer cases, colors, and brand names.) Flashlight technology, fortunately, has evolved much for the better in recent years. I was very annoyed with "rechargeable" Made-In-China flashlights that failed non-repairably after a short life. LED lights are, in my opinion, the wave of the future in lighting. For a long time, it seemed that all LED consumer products were made in China, but I'm delighted that (thanks to a federal government "Buy American" program) some U.S.-owned companies are manufacturing LEDs here -- not yet any 'trouble lights' or flashlights, but "Stay Tuned." - Louis Barton, Ph.D.

This product is a WINNER! I have been doing work inside the engine compartment of an old truck in addition to some chores beneath the truck, but with a corded light. After using the Cliplight, I don't think I will have much use for the corded light. The Cliplight came with batteries already installed. Its magnet at the base of the light allows it to be firmly attached to any metal surface. Its light can then be pointed in any direction. The large LED light surface (as seen in the photograph) provides enough light for any job that has metal nearby in order for the magnet to allow for attachment. But....if there is no metal....not to worry. A hidden hook swings out from the other side of the light for further attachment possibilities. Also, a smaller LED light at the end of the instrument acts as a flashlight. A quick and handy way to get all the light any mechanic would require to the work area. It also doesn't throw out any measurable heat, such as do some of the corded lights.

OK, but I really didn't know what I was ordering. What I really wanted was the ClipLight Mini...which I found locally at one of my suppliers for a good price. This light is bigger, has more LEDs, but doesn't really put out much more light than the mini, plus the mini is more compact and more tightly constructed (the pivot base has play on this one - 8" non-mini). Also, the mini has a magnet on the back where the hook folds in as well as the magnets on the bottom. The mini is just a better light and, IMO, a better buy. I paid around $12 locally for the mini (in fact, I bought 4). I put this one back in its box and will 'gift it' to someone, sometime. But hey, it could be just the light someone else has been waiting for. ************************************************************************************ Update 04/10/2018: I've been using this and have bought another since I reviewed this 2 years ago. It does indeed put out more light. Fact is, I use both the large and 'Mini' versions. Have about 6 in all. Best work light on the market, and takes abuse.

love the concept and use of the product. Come with batteries so you can use immediately. The light is bright as LED should be. It is a multi use flashlight that shines out of the tip and side. I particularly love the magnet and pivoting arm. It came in useful during our last power outage as I was able to stick the flashlight to a metal light casing on the ceiling thus illuminating the room from above. I would purchase this product again and for others as gifts. I have used it since for repair work on my truck and have no issues with lack of lighting. Feel kinda bad because i originally bought it to give as gift but kept it for myself! lol

Easy to use, can be hung or attached via magnet in a variety of positions. Nice bright light.

I had a LED flashlight just like this one that got broken on site one evening. I tried to buy another one from a retailer who shall remain nameless but is well known to people, however it has been discontinued. This one is exactly like the one I had albeit more costly and needs an extra battery.

this is so handy, have used it so much. Worth the money

I bought 4 of these for our cabin at work. We don't have electricity. We don't stay there overnight often but I have to pack up / clean up in the dark. These lights do a great job of helping me do that. Easy to place and nice strong magnets. Only complaint I have is they don't work perfectly with my rechargeable batteries. I had to make a little metal shim to make them connect properly. Would probably buy them again if I needed more.
