can this be plugged in all the time and switch back and forth from AC to DC when needed?

I had two that were plugged in and in use constantly on my sponge filters. Each lasted about 2-2.5 years and then either the internal pumps died or some internal thing went wrong. Each appeared to still be getting power (indicator lights still worked for on and off, but not for the three different settings on-intermittent-off), but they no longer pumped air. Allowing them to sit for 24-128 hours to try to discharge after this happened and hopefully reset did not change the outcome of either pump.

Once fully charged, how long does the charge hold if the pump is off and not in use?

Couldn’t answer that but once fully charged it only stays charged about 3 hours… all you fish will die before the fishing day is over
