The BARF Diet: Raw Feeding for Dogs and Cats Using Evolutionary Principles Review: Excellent resource for researching a healthy diet for your pet. - I have been feeding my dogs a raw diet for about 2 years now., and hey have been doing wonderfully on it, the picture of health. I have been feeding mostly prey-model, but recently I have become aware of the fact that prey-model might not fulfill all of the micro-nutrients they need due to the fact that factory-farmed meats are low in minerals, vitamin D, fatty acids, and other key essential nutrients. Logically, dogs fed a balanced diet don't need fruit and veg, however, due to the fact that farmed meats available to your average person are low in some of these key nutrients, fruit and veg are the easiest way to ensure that your pet is receiving all their essential nutrients. I have purchased several books, including this one, to continue to educate myself on the importance of these other nutrients in a dog's diet. It's a very well organized, helpful book for anyone considering a raw diet for their pet. Review: Good for beginners to raw feeding .. - If you are new to raw feeding for your cat or dog. This is a good book. My only down side is the switching of bond text to fine text. He kinda repeats himself alot and I feel like what he said could be paraphrased quicker instead of going on and on. But good beginner book !

A must read for a healthy happy dog!
This book has transformed my dog. He went from having horrible skin issues to healthy and itch free. People often compliment how shiny and soft his coat is now too. His anxiety greatly diminished and he’s stopped eating grass entirely. One time I showed someone a pic of my dog and he said “Wow he’s ripped” because he’s so lean and strong. The diet Dr Ian promotes here should be the standard for all. I highly recommend this quick and easy read!

The Barf Diet (book)
I read The Barf Diet, as well as other books by the same author, and many other books on feeding my dogs raw. The Barf Diet is a good book. Some of the suggestions are difficult to follow in an urban setting in the USA. I consider it a good resource for anyone who is researching raw feeding for their pets. I would, however, recommend reading as much information as possible... not just this one book (or author).

Best decision I ever made for my dogs
I this book through a recommendation from a Youtuber that I follow. I have fully transitioned my 5 dogs to a raw food diet. They were transitioned in June of 2019. In 3 weeks I noticed that their coats felt much softer. I also noticed that their breath doesn't stink and their teeth are cleaner. I won't need to ever get their teeth cleaned. I also noticed that their poo doesn't smell as bad and they don't poo as much. Which makes clean up much easier. My Yorkie mix used to scratch himself raw. It took about 2 months on this diet before the scratching was reduceds. If you are skeptical, please read the book and give it a try. Your dogs will benefit from your decision. Plus, I've found through price shopping that this is actually cheaper than that supposed high quality dry dog food.

Just ok
It was ok. I learned some from it, but not worth the money imo.

Excellent to understand how to feed your dog, I cook meat to extra rear to insure no bacteria and use Blue Buffalo, Royal Canin
Excellent to understand how to feed your dog. I still use high grade dog food but feed this 1 times a day. I also cook the meat to extra rear to insure no bacteria, but an amazing concept. Was a little hesitant but now an avid fan as i used to cook all the food for y dog. Have not had a puppy in 10 years and dog food has come a long way, but not to this quality, so I cooked all their food and their are healthy with super shiny coats. I use Blue Buffalo or Royal Canin and fish oil (salmon) and flax seed oil, the good stuff which is pricey but never had issues with health with any of my dogs. Kind of did this anyway, but used to boil then back bones, not any more, feed it raw.

I just did a Diet and Nutrition Course for Dogs and Cats, needless to say it was no easy feat but I did extremely well in the end. I ordered this book for future referrence or as a referral for inquisitive owners. I really enjoyed reading this , as it was condensed version, very understandable, easy read that would be able to make sense to the general Pet owner. It was very informative. Ian Billinghurst as a veterinarian for starters and anything he says is pretty much backed up by science itself and the study of the dogs evolutionary diet. This is a good stepping stone in helping people let go of the myths that Processed food are even the slightest a healthy diet for dogs or cats. society in general buys into the "Complete and Balanced" MYTH. I am proud to be someone who was not scared to investigate for myself through much reading and studying to break that hold the MYTH that processed food is the way to go. I have 4 year old Chihauhau and he is thriving on the BARF diet and loving it, RAW Bones and all!

We followed Dr. Ian Billinghurst's advice in the book and changed our dog over to the BARF way of feeding; BEST DECISION EVER! Our dog is an ex-kennel dog who was overweight due to overfeeding in the kennel, and in extremely poor health when we adopted him. After almost 3 years of trying out different industry foods and not getting anywhere, we decided to buy this book. We've come to the conclusion that raw feeding is the only way to feed a dog a species-appropriate diet! Our dog is fitter, slimmer, happier and healthier than ever! The organic dry and canned food we were trying to feed him before that was nothing but empty, expensive calories, the dog was hungry, malnourished and overweight. Several vets claimed he'd never be able to run around due to his poor condition, and now he's fitter than the whole family put together! The book is worth a read; it is informative, yet easy to read. It might need some 'tweaking', depending on where you live, your dog's situation, availability of ingredients, etc., and, as every animal is an individual, it does require a bit of trial-and-error to find the exact diet to suit your pet. However, it is well worth the effort and you will never go back to feeding processed food ever again once you try BARFing. Thank you Dr. Billinghurst for the eye-opener book. I'd give it 6 stars, if I could!

We’ve ruined not only our diets but our pets too. It’s good to know what they need to keep them healthy. I wished I’d known better years ago

Dog food manufacturers will not like this book but the fact is I changed my pets diet to Barf 3 months back and no dry processed dog food. His skin and hair fall issues have just vanished. This book is a perfect guide to all myths. I will Like to add that I also picked another book of this author “Give your dog a bone”
