Q: What is the difference between the Gripmax and Deluxe strings?

Hi Grip max : The bottom area of the strings have a light to medium-soft texture that has been "spiral cut" into the string. This slight texture facilitates better gripping of the strings for lightning fast pizzicato playing, and drag triplets with with almost no effort. The strings "grab" the air and force it to move, producing more mid and low end tone when playing acoustically. Deluxe : Simulated “gut” texture on full length of strings. The strings have a light to medium-soft texture that has been "spiral cut" into the string. Q: I play double bass pizzacatto but sometimes theres spots in music that sound better bowed. Is it possible the bow with these strings?

Yes, but you have to really rosen up the bow quite a bit. The E string fights me a bit, but for my needs, it’s OK. I play Django style and rock a billy. These strings are really great for that style. Good luck!

Q: Is the 'tone' as bad as weed wacker strings? I loved my Velvet animas, they are out f the buisness now..

I’ve not used weed whackers, but I use a plain gut ‘E’ string along with the grip max A D and G and it sounds very even. The grip max E didn’t quite sound as loud. The gut E matches better. I get lot’s of positive comments.
