What do the sizes refer to .... size 2, 3, 4??? I thought all pads were the same size.

I bought a size 5 awhile back thinking it had to do with absorbency; however it has to do with length. Size 5 is probably for someone almost 7 feet tall. It goes from my bra lies front to back. They are long so they sit in my closet.
