I tried out the Caliart Pastel Acrylic Paint Set with 12 Brushes, and I must say, I really enjoy the colors. Big fan of pastel colors. Vibrant Pastel Colors: The first thing that caught my eye was the array of pastel colors in this set. They are rich, vibrant, and create such a lovely soft effect on my paintings. Whether I'm working on landscapes or portraits, these colors add a unique touch to my artwork. Decent Brush Selection: The 12 brushes included in this set cover the basics quite well. While they might not be the most high-end brushes I've used, they still get the job done. They are easy to handle and have allowed me to experiment with different techniques. Versatility of Acrylics: These acrylic paints are quite versatile. They work wonderfully on a variety of surfaces, including canvas, paper, and even wood. The consistency is just right, allowing for both thick impasto textures and smooth, delicate strokes. Blend ability and Layering: I was impressed by how well these pastel acrylics blend together and how easy it is to layer them. It gives me more control over the colors and allows me to achieve the desired shades and tones effortlessly. Fast Drying Time: As someone who tends to be a bit impatient, I appreciate the fast-drying time of these acrylics. It means I can work on multiple layers without waiting too long, which is perfect for keeping the creative flow going. Good Coverage: The opacity of these pastel acrylics is surprisingly good. With just a few strokes, I can achieve solid coverage, making it efficient and cost-effective in the long run. Great for Beginners and Hobbyists: For someone like me, who enjoys art as a hobby, this paint set is an absolute delight. It's reasonably priced and offers an excellent selection of colors and brushes for beginners or artists looking to explore pastel acrylics. Final Verdict: In conclusion, the Caliart Pastel Acrylic Paint Set with 12 Brushes is a wonderful addition to any artist's collection. The range of pastel colors, blend ability, and versatility make it a joy to work with. While it may not be a high-end professional set, it's perfect for hobbyists and beginners who want to create beautiful artworks without breaking the bank. I highly recommend it, and I'd give it a solid 4.5/5

Absolutely gorgeous pastel paint set. The colors are perfect. The consistency is nice. It’s not super thick. You will probably have to do two thin coats, but it’s creamy and thick.

I really wanted to like these paints and looked forward to using. The pastel shades chosen are beautiful, and it had the nicest array of pastels I could find. But the quality is just so poor. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because 1 is essentially 0, since they don't allow for 0, and the 2 is really a 1 star for me, which I give them for the pastel palette choices. Otherwise the follow through on production is bad. I am no expert with painting. I am more of an intermediate. But, I know the difference between student quality and pro artist quality though. Apple Barrel is more of a student/less expensive quality, and those are far better than these. I have posted 4 pictures to demonstrate the quality. I painted just a partial loop of each color swatch to test their viscosity, how they lay on (mixed media) paper, and see all the colors together.: Image 1-- shows all of the colors together, and while they are pretty colors, most of them are VERY translucent. The thickness of the paint almost seems like they crossed watercolor paints with acrylics. As you curve the brush it leaves these odd track marks alongside, and its sort of gloppy. They dry twice as fast as regular acrylics, showing how watered down they are. The darker colors are slightly better as they had to use more pigment. But the lighter the color got, the more translucent or barely even there they were. The feel of them was almost as though they got the lighter colors by just adding lots of water. Image 2-- not only shows multiple colors, but just how transparent they are, and barely there. That was a decent sized glob of paint, and when I compared it to an apple barrel paint, the same amount of paint gave it nearly complete opaqueness, whereas this paint was almost always completely transparent. A few of the colors you could hardly see at all. Image 3-- I show my pen pointing at one color of paint that, while using the same amount of paint, was SO transparent that you can hardly tell it it is there. It is one of the green shades. Image 4-- Shows some of the colors very close up, and just like images 2 and 3, shows these little globs or flecks of paint just get stuck in the paint. They along with the odd marks likely from drying so quick it streaks, just made it look terrible. So in summary, I cannot recommend these paints to anyone. I opted for these over the FolkArt 16 acrylic pastel paint set because this one was 24 colors of pastel for five dollars less. Well, like my mother used to tell me, "you get what you pay for," and sometimes even worse. Aside from lovely color choices, these were just awful to work with. I am returning these today and getting my money back, and going to pay the 5 dollars more for the FolkArt, and have the added benefit of not only being made in the states, but I have used FolkArt brand before and I know them to be decent quality and good application paints. I am sorry, but I so wanted to like these. The packaging is decent, the bottles are nice, the palette organized on box to match where colors were, and a great array of pastels. Even the brushes albeit small, were fairly decent. But the quality of the paints is so bad, not even students should use these. I am even wondering if other reviewers just loved the colors in the bottles and didn't actually try them out, they are so bad, or if the quality just went down so bad. The higher reviews surprise me. If they improve the quality of the paints to be on par with at least Apple Barrel and want to send me them to test, I would be happy to correct review at later point. But for now these are just too bad to use for me. Buyer beware.
